woe

This morning after I got off work I got sucked into some stupid game on the computer and eventually got around to sorta finishing my Halloween decorating. I have a few more things to do (not counting anything that is Big Day or Day Before Only) but it's mostly done. Bats are on the walls, I hung the owl garland, lights are distributed to various things. I was feeling most proud of myself.
me to my decorations:

Yeah, when I came down for dinner half the velvet-y bats had fallen off the walls, the owl garland has mostly fallen down. The only thing still holding it up is a glue dot from last year. That's just not a glowing recommendation, Scotch tape... thing. Not actual tape but Target didn't have glue dots so I got something similar and it has failed me. Also, I learned that getting the $1 wall sticker things from Walmart works just fine for the first year but at most you get two years out of them because uh, I think from my collection of bats, haunted house, and 'Happy Halloween' I have Happy en and some bats. Maybe the house is still up. It's not cute in any case.
I'm not sure whether this is a case of the humidity just dooming everything or what. To be completely fair, the owl garland pretty much never stays up because felt is a bitch and the sea of a billion non velvety bats is still going very strong.
It's just disappointing to work so hard and have it not even last six freakin' hours. Sigh.
It's hot as hell, btw. The air is pretty much soup so going outside is miserable and not in a fun, Halloween sort of way. I'm tired and don't feel like turning on all the lights to properly enjoy the atmosphere I've created. Also, one of these years I'm going to get someone else to actually help decorate beyond half-heartedly move something from one place to another. Spoiler: no I won't. I've tried for eons. Ever since we moved in here, Widget's helpfulness for the decorating is zip.
