Christmas roundup
First things first, I am still sick. I thought I was doing much better yesterday but no. No, that was just a Christmas ceasefire, apparently. Woe. I really wish my ear would pop or whatever the hell because this having it be muffled thing is annoying as fuck.
Now, let's move on to Christmas proper, shall we? After a week of being sick as a dog, I had done exactly NOTHING as far as Christmas prep aside from getting Widget to put up the tree weeks ago. Seriously, that's it. Oh, and I did buy two decorations at work so we had two deer up on the bookcase. Woo? Wait, there was also the wreath and over the weekend, in a fit of lucidity, I did ask Mom to change the batteries in the lights so I could see the blue again before Christmas. The lights burn out so fast and they kinda suck but I keep forgetting to actually buy replacements. Next year, mebbe.
Anyway, I did have my gifts bought but I didn't wrap a damn thing. Also, the only gifts I'd bought (still true at the moment) were for the immediate family. Angel's death and my cold from hell combined to kill any remaining time I had before the holiday. Not a single cookie was made, no decorating the tree... nothing. But I lucked out and Widget did work on the tree and since I had to work Christmas Eve, I scrounged up two rolls of pretty paper and used my work bonus on that (as well as a few other things) and when I got home, I went to work on my wrapping. Watched a Christmas movie that was eh but it did the job. Ozma helped with the wrapping so things looked a little special.
Mom picked my brother up and brought him over and in that time I'd set up the TV finally. Huzzah! Tried to get his help to set up the DVD player with it but no. Not sure if I fixed that this morning or if he'd already done so yesterday after I eventually got a nap. Presents weren't opened until after 3pm. I'd been awake for approximately forever and a day at this point and I was kind of distracted by Hallmark's yule log thing because kitties and puppies and piglets, ohmy!
But my gifts seemed to be a hit, especially with Widget. Ozma gave the gift of first aid kits.
I wound up with a the Big one throw from Kohl's I wanted (the cat version), a silver blanket from my brother, the Wellie Wishers snowflake dress, a bottle of Kahlua Especial, and a pair of socks. I'm not sure if there was anything else because my brain is a little addled at the moment. Wait, yes. Mom got me the Gilmore Girls Netflix season on DVD, and I can't really forget the super awesome TV that's a joint gift to Mums and I from my uncle.
A small but respectable haul and incentive to get around to actually washing my bedding to help get rid of the cold germs so I can snuggle down in with my blankets now that it's nice and chilly again.
In AG news, since it's the day after Christmas, their stores are having various sales and new stuff has launched (I gather Tenney got a lot of little things) and oh yeah, those boy dolls are totally a thing and they do have new face molds. Instagram has pictures. They don't show teeth and ... I have thoughts.
Til they appear online, I'm not swiping pictures when I can just link so go see the link above, poke around IG, or leave a link here that's not the doll's life blog because it sucks.
Anyway I... am not a fan. I'm not really sure how I feel about AG doing boy dolls in general because I've cycled through various thoughts on this over the years. I remember when Widget was younger, wishing they did because I think he would have enjoyed having one. But I also know that when I was younger, I liked that they didn't have boy dolls because boys had everything else and were everywhere else and boy dolls have never been all that important to me. Like ever. So eh. Still, when people lost their minds over Logan I was kind of amused and removed from it.
Yeah. These are worse. I was rolling my eyes (still am) at people thinking boy dolls are the end of AG as we know it, but I do think these have crossed over into uncanny valley a little bit. The Sonali mold one looks like he's both cross eyed in shots and also mid-yawn. I think I've made it very clear that I'm a big fan of the Sonali mold in general but this is just not a thing I enjoy. Also not a big fan of the Jess mold, but honestly I don't see me buying any of these. Addy and Classic came out the best, I think, but that's just me. I've heard numerous people fawn over the Jess mold even though the shot I keep seeing makes it look like the doll is ready to stab me. That might be the Sudafed talking though?

The Jess one came out the worst I think. He just looks odd. Something about the jaw/cheeks. But that could be the lighting. And is also disappointing because he's probably the one I would have gotten. Roslin's brother that she drives up the wall.
The Classic I don't care for, because even without the teeth, he just gives me vibes of everyone's boy customs.
Addy boy is so cute! I like Sonali boy, too. I want to play with his hair. I'm not sure I'll buy any, but I'm interested in people's photos and over the moon to see an Asian male doll, because they're so stinkin' rare, even if I don't like the end product. At least he's there.

Addy mold is adorable and probably my favorite of the bunch. Huh. Your comment about the Classic reminding you of all the boy customs just made me fully realize there's no Josefina version, which I should've remembered from before when these sorta leaked.
I've always been torn on the teeth. On the one hand, I'm biased because my gap never went awaaaaay. On the other hand, some molds carry it off better and in the mini form it usually looks demented so eh. Plus Kaya could use some company.
