Isabel and Nicki Hoffman
Who's ready to feel positively ancient?
AG's twins leaked last night and oof, do I feel old.
Introducing the twins,Cher and every character MKO played in the 90s Isabel and Nicki.
Isabel! She looks like she's already decided where to bury the body and is just waiting on you to drop dead from fright. I know people give Felicity shit for her laser eyes but Isabel's got serious resting murder face. Apparently if you make a Joss mold in blond, my brain sees it as Classic.
I want to love her. I really do. Even if I ignore the fact that I never saw a kid wearing full Cher gear (I mean, I was 17/18 at the time, how many preteens was I hanging out with? None, I tell you) including our numerous trips to the mall... she's giving me less than nothing here. Doll wise. Which is weird because on paper she absolutely should work for me. Blond and green eyes that you can tell are green? Yes. Those shoes are cute as hell though I'm guessing the twins have money and parents who say yes to A LOT. Mini backpack is cute! I like the idea of the outfit even if the full thing isn't my absolute favorite thing ever. I think the illustration of Isabel is fab.
But I hate this picture of Isabel and I also lowkey hate that we sped right on through the 90's and landed right at 1999. Even if I tell myself that should the company survive long enough they'll absolutely double dip and give us another year... it still feels like they cheated somehow. 1999 is somehow definitely 90's but also very Y2K. Le sigh.

Nicki, honey, why are we wearing a dress when you've got the "I'd be wearing shorts for sure" look down? I had all of 2 seconds to prep for the "highlights" being the chunky mess that is... this and not even someone saying she looked like Rogue is helping. Mostly because the Rogue she most resembles is movie!Rogue and I... look, that's for another time and place. I like her outfit a lot but I'm not really sure how I feel about the doll. Don't love the wig but it's working with that handicap of those streaks so... eh. Mini grin pins, however, are giving me life, and I love her choker and bag.
But I'm going to die because it was bad enough before the pics leaked with the Olsen twins comments. It only got worse. *cries* Wasn't Elizabeth Olsen supposed to save us from the twins haunting everything? Sigh.
Beds and Bedroom Accessories!
I love that Isabel has Miss AG Bear, though hers is looking a little skinny and not quite the fab bear I remember. I always wanted a big version of Miss AG Bear but had to content myself with the mini. The accessories are cute and I might get them because mini Tamagotchi!
Soooooooooo... I kind of love Nicki's chair. I love her grin pins banner. I love the CDs and CD player (think they'll work like Courtney's tapes do?) but like Isabel's bedding set, it feels like something is missing. I can tell myself Isabel's got the husband and pillow to add more to the bed but Nicki's accessories don't do that same trick. Not really going to amount to anything since I do not have the space for another AG doll bed. And Adora would absolutely bite that chair. :P
Do I need this for Miss Lila Fowler? Seriously, this chick knows where she's going to bury your body. And now she's got a weapon.
Other than the vest, I am just...whelmed. But points for the overalls because those are an absolute must in general.
...my computer addicted teen self needs this. NEEDS IT. And it'd better make the dialup sound.

In general, I feel like this is missing something. Is it because it's a split collection? Probably. Is it because I'm not ready to be a historical twice over while still not getting to be that sweet same age (or within spitting distance) of the character? Oh, yeah, definitely. But it still feels incomplete. I don't hate it but the historical collections have a sprinkling of magic, usually even in the non super staged photos. I'm not feeling it yet. I do hope they sell like crazy because I'd love for the Jewish girls to help save AG.

I do not totally hate Isabel. I love those shoes and obviously, Cher. BUT Cher knew how to wear colors. I'm so sick of pink and purple! And why did she have to be blonde? Why couldn't they at least share a base hair color and have her brunette? If she was a brunette and the key color of that outfit was red instead of purple, I'd be throwing my money at them.
I hate Nicki. Let's tease a grunge angle and then a) put her in a dress, b) give her a shitton of lipstick, and c) PURPLE.
The entire collection has way too much pink and purple. I like next to nothing here. I actually like the tennis outfit because it's the only thing that went with different colors. And even that has some pink. And I don't hate the Pizza Hut set, even though I'm beyond that age group. I graduated undergrad in 2000.
I think one of my biggest problems is that there's nothing here that's Jewish. The only clue to their heritage and religion is their last name. I'm not sure how old they're going to be, but it could have been awesome if they were 12 and came with a bunch of bat mitzvah stuff. That's a huge thing and there's a lot of work leading up to it. Complete missed opportunity. All of this is.
