ugh, colds suck

Only replace see with breathe and you'll be more accurate to today's feeling. But in general this scene plays through my head at least once a week and has since I first saw the movie because, y'know, blind. :P
As you might've guessed from that, I'm getting over being sick. Again. At least I hope I'm getting over it. :/ I went out to lunch with A & D last Sunday, not realizing until we were already at the restaurant (and seated, so this included sitting in the waiting area for twenty minutes) being served our food... that D had a cold. It wasn't until we were on the way back to my house when he called his sister that I learned he was *coming down* with the cold. Because he wasn't going to stay long at her place so he wouldn't get the kiddo sick. DUDE. I'm sitting RIGHT HERE.
I held out hope that maybe I'd duck it. Mom and I went out to breakfast Monday because I promised her I would and I was still in my hopeful bubble... but Tuesday morning sometime I got that weird tickle in my sinuses that always signals the whole "ding-ding-ding, your cold has arrived!" thing. UGH. I went to work Tuesday and really, really should not have. I masked up because I'm one of those people who hates it when someone says, "it's just a cold!" Dude, I didn't want your cold anymore than I wanted the flu or Covid, dammit. It was hell. My sinuses hurt, my entire body felt like I'd been hit by a car (well, maybe not exactly like that) and I was just so fucking tired, but by the time I got home, I couldn't sleep because I hurt too much and my sore throat had kicked things up a notch. I managed to suffer through bill payment and then headed upstairs to keep my sickly self away from everyone. I then spent the next two days or so asleep, waking up for dinner and to call out of work.
Thursday night I felt better enough that I remembered someone said the SVH TV show was streaming on Amazon so I went and watched a few episodes of that. I'm not sure if I finally managed to lower my expectations just right or my sickness hit the right note for camp or what, but I've been enjoying S2 so far. I think it helps that Lila's not an idiot, Winston and Liz actually have a very sweet friendship, and brooding Todd is entirely book accurate, even if it's less SVH and more SVU accurate. Bruce waffles between being accurate enough and being made a fool far too often, but the show needs a foil.
Also, for a show I didn't watch that much as it aired, it scratches the nostalgia itch oddly well. Huh.
Went back to work last night and regretted it shortly after midnight. Things got better after 2am but I basically had to drag my ass those two hours and it did not help that people kept coming in and some would ask whether we'd be open all night or not. Dunno, dude, depends on whether I continue to breathe or not, I guess?
Now I'm gonna go see if I can move around enough to breathe again. Wish me luck?

SVH TV show is streaming on Amazon? Sounds like a nostalgia bomb! I grabbed the series off YouTube a couple of years ago and burned the eps on discs, but it probably looks better on the streaming, LOL. I can't believe you didn't actually watch it much back then! I didn't, because I didn't always get the channel it was on, but I thought you did (I guess because your book game was so strong?).

Aww! Mr. B cuddles! Dear 2023, please ease off on the Shark Week suckitude. Please and thank you!
And now you know what to invent to make your millions: the purring weighted blanket.

Gah, every time Mr. B comes to me for snuggles I just think how much I'd *love* that purring weighted blanket! Having a cat purr on your chest is perhaps the most soothing thing ever ♥
