When I got my DVD, you knew it was only a matter of time...

And now, we trip through time. Might I return you to 1997, when the Spice Girls appeared and life as you knew it altered, even if you were completely, totally unaware of it?

I shall.

We begin with Wannabe which fascinated me endlessly when it first premiered and I caught it. See, my father was having surgery that day and I finally made it home late that afternoon, and I was about ten seconds away from passing out on the couch, but I turned the TV on to see if the world was still as I knew it to be that morning. It was. I ended up on MTV or VH1, back when they both played music videos more often than not, and saw both Wannabe and Savage Garden's I Want You back to back. I was doomed.

Wannabe the video is a bitch to cap without trying too hard. Hence, one, and a bad one at that. Perhaps because the video is constantly panning around or that they obviously had no budget. Dunno. It's one of those that is best viewed as a popup video, as it gets real old, real fast.

Say You'll Be There
Hee, they made SUCH a big deal when this premiered. I think they hyped it for a week and dude, you'd better believe I was there. Alas... Not my favorite of their songs, but I loved them having alter egos, although since they were pretty much branded various spices, it was like their alter egos having them... Confusing.
Because I love you:

Katrina Highkick

Trixie Firecracker

Kung Fu Candy

Midnight Miss Suki

Blazin' Bad Zula

Oh yeah.

2 Become 1
I thought this was their prettiest video. Still do of the three we got from Spice. I loved the pop-up video [damn you, VH1, bring it back proper!] because it would count how many times the background footage was reused, or they'd mention how the girls didn't get how it would all work in the end. Still pretty, and I think my single CD went to the school talent show so some guys could do their own SG thing. So I didn't have school spirit, but my stuff did. But I loved the end bits, so I share.

Emma!

Mel B in the ugliest coat known to mankind!

This is probably when I decided Victoria was the prettiest.

I had a friend who dyed her hair like Geri. She was so cutely obsessed...

Ahoy, Mel C!

Do you know how pissed I was that the UK got all this shit that we didn't? I was livid, man. Mama is a cute little video, most memorable for the baby pictures and the mumsies. But why is Victoria wearing just a bra? And why would this continue for awhile? The fashion mysteries...

Emma

Geri

Mel B, to which Cass just recently saw the video and shrieked, "Scary's mom is white!" This struck me as hysterical...

Mel C

Victoria.

I think Who Do You Think You Are is my absolute favorite of the bunch, because it's so over the top fantastic. Yes. And because we'd get clips of everything else, but not so much with this. Didn't think our puny American brains could handle it, or I had the worst timing ever. I dunno. Oh, and they all have moments where they look gorgeous.

I love you, Geri.

Classic Victoria.

The eyes of the damned!

Aww, Mel.

Glitter!

Also, this vid introduces us to the Vicki in a catsuit with super long extensions thing. Weird.

Apologies for all glitches, hiccups, and songs stuck in your head. This was meant to be done in one giant post, but photobucket is a fucking whore on days that end in "y."
