Things that vex me:

#4 When people who harm someone else with their actions go on and on about forgiving themselves, but never mention if the person they hurt forgave them. I'm a little more leniant, oddly enough, if your actions led to say, hitting someone with your car and then that person died. I still think some serious self loathing should be involved, but in that case the other person can't forgive you. Well. Not on this plane, anyway. But the guy who beats the shit out of his first wife, before he found God and underwent a radical personality shift? Still beat the shit out of his first wife. The anorexic mother who refused to do anything to gain weight for her pregnancy and whose kid suffered for her insanity [and I don't mock the mental issue at hand, for once]? Still fucked her kid over.

Now, if in those situations wife #1 and kid have gotten over it, more power to you. But if wife #1 is unable to forgive you, I'm not really sure all the forgiveness in the world that you heal upon yourself is really worth all that much in the end.

This is just a random annoyance and not really brought on by anything.

I'm re-reading The Blind Mirror because Cass mentioned she had finally gotten around to reading it. And I realized I couldn't remember a damn thing about the book other than liking it for the most part. Honestly couldn't remember anything about it. Not usually the best sign in the world for a book. Upon cracking it open, things slowly started returning, but it wasn't that onslaught of recognition I normally get when I re-read a book.

How to tell for sure it's a Pike novel checklist:
Character burned in fire, probably female? Check.
Suicide or murder breaks up high school clique? Check.
Vampires mentioned at all? Check.
Story within a story that mysteriously ties to the main character's life? Check. [This is actually my favorite of the list, though not for this book]
Ex-girlfriends are bitches one and all? Check and check.
Claustrophobic small town? Check.
Body switching? Check.
Double and triple crosses relating to the clique break up? CHECK and CHECK!
All I'm missing is an Ann and time travling.

It's weird. This doesn't feel the same as it did before, but I don't really have any recollection of reading the book prior to this although I know I did because I think I even commented on all the Pike-ism thrown in. Confusion thy name is me.
