Tis the holiday season and time to babble.
Cass was not amused by the super lightness of Kanani's being.
Yesterday the AG development site exploded with fun goodies and previews of the coming year's stuff. Linky.
First up, Kanani from our last post. I'll admit it. In my head I was sort of hoping for a doll form of one of my friends from elementary/middle school, or possibly her older sister. Instead I get a (hopefully) medium/tan skinned Jess mold with hair that is essentially the same color as her skin. I... don't really like non-contrast like that. It's actually not as bad for the more extremes (so you can be super!pale or super!dark with the matching hair colors and it'll look a bit startling, which is a contrast in and of itself, yes?) but with the middle ground it just looks enh. And it tends to look bad on people. I cannot tell you how many girls/women come in and they've fake baked themselves to the exact color of their hair color and it's just off-putting to say the least.
Anyway. AG is known for taking crap-tacular pictures of their own products (... I don't understand. Your company produces these. We're no longer in the 80's when your options might have been more limited. People can photograph these dolls and they do it well. WHY CAN'T YOU GUYS?!) so I'm hoping that come the 1st, people will flood the boards with pictures. Or hell, larger pictures when she's officially released will do her more justice.
But Impy! you might cry out. Didn't you just blow most of your money on gifts for other people? Indeed I did. But a) I get paid again at the end of the year AND my aunt and uncle thoughtfully sent me a Christmas check that I have spent the last 14 hours or so fantasizing on how to spend. This was made much, much more interesting by the development site's next round of goodies:

Kaya: I'm pretty damn sure I have the Barbie version of this. New Pow-Wow Dress of Today leads to a discussion on the difficulty of Kaya. She has the smallest collection outside of anyone who Isn't Ivy. But they can't really add to hers without being screamed at for a variety of things. Historical inaccuracy of the number of outfits being one of the bigger ones. So they make her outfits to tie her into her descendants today. And people bitch about that in general. And then they do this and... I just don't know what to say. Most people have reacted with the o_O; sort of reaction. Which, if they stick to their initial "no!" reaction means poor Kaya will continue to not sell and they'll see her not selling well and yank a shiny from her collection and, well, the vicious cycle carries on. That said, I still want Kaya. But I will wuss out and de-historical her and make her, as they say, "modern."
Josefina: Dress & Vest: Well, hello prettiful. I don't have a Josefina, and short of being gifted with one or the money to buy one, she'll probably be awhile away (and I think she's one of the few I would much, much rather pick out in person or send someone with very specific pictures of what to get/avoid) but I love her new outfit. The fact that Ivy has been known to look fabulous in Josefina's outfits also helps. Thumbs up!
Addy: Plaid Summer Set Dress: Pinafore! *little 9 year old impy dies of glee* Assuming it looks even cuter in larger photos, I will be buying for Kirsten. (Addy's collection is supported, helping her out of the vicious cycle, and Kirsten gets a new outfit.)
Rebecca: Lace Dress: Need better/bigger pictures. Rebecca's stuff is very hit or miss for me, and a lot of the stuff I like? Doesn't actually seem to fit the damn dolls properly. (See: Coat) But at the moment Nellie is hoping for good things. So is Ruthie since...
Kit: Summer Dress looks a hot mess in tiny pic form. I'm hoping it's better larger, but I really don't see how that's possible. Maybe it'll be one of those I dislike on the man doll, but find to be a good fit for the best friend? Or someone else entirely? The bow is calling Ruthie's name.
Molly: Polka Dot Outfit: Molly, why'd you steal Kirsten's hair buns? That aside, unless the polka dots are obnoxious, I'll be buying. (It's one of the ones I'm most hopeful for.)
Julie: Summer Skirt Set screams "IVY!" so I am bound to at least seriously look into the matter.
There's new stuff for the bitties and the MyAG dolls, but meh, although maybe to the Valentine pajamas?
Anyone remember what else I was going to say? Me neither. Need to wrap presents. Do not want to. I do have to work through the holiday, and I suspect I have to work through next week's holiday as well. Bother. Well, maybe my sneaky plans will work anyway?
