(no subject)

So yesterday I made banana bread. I'm not sure why other than I wanted some and Mom was going to make some at the beginning of the month but then didn't. Anyway, Mondays are apparently becoming my "MAKE SOMETHING" days... so I made something.

As you can see, the bread turned out pretty close to the picture on the website, so there's that. But then things got weird.

1) The clocks up here are about ten minutes off, so I was ten minutes late in pulling it out of the oven.
2) Normally banana bread makes the whole house smell delicious. Not so with this one. It didn't smell bad, it simply didn't smell mouthwateringly good.
3) On the first day the bread needed butter or some other topping to make it taste yummy for me, and then it was quite tastiful. But day two, any additions were simply too much and the bread tasted fantastic without them. Odd. Mom declared it the best banana bread she'd ever had yesterday, though.
4) The batter was so good I thought I might actually die. I had no intention of trying it because, well, no. Do you know how bad banana bread batter looks? (Is it batter? Dough? I get confused.) Ew! But a dollop landed on my thumb in the transfer process, so I licked said thumb and... ohmygod. The only reason I'm not making another loaf today is because I"m seriously afraid I'd eat all of the batter. No. Seriously. If I knew where the mini loaf pans were, this wouldn't be an issue...

In the baking time, I found the counter. Huzzah!

Anyway, the adventure in baking turned out well. I want another piece.

Sadly, I think today's adventure in heating up left-overs might make me ill. You know when you're pretty sure that something is fine, but you're not 100% positive? So you eat it anyway because there's nothing else but half a loaf of banana bread to eat otherwise... and about 2/3 of the way through you go from being quite happy with this decision to wondering if, perhaps, you have made a grave error. I'm hoping this is merely paranoia.
