I feel like I should say this, somewhere, so that I can look back and remember.
Today Miss Bee, Ari's pug, died. :/
Miss Bee was a pug that Ari rescued a few years ago. It's funny that the dog that melted her heart so completely in a way I haven't seen since Lily, was a dog who was I think 10-12 when Ari got her. Described as blind, partially deaf, and unable to walk properly, Ari still took her home and loved the hell out of her.
The amusement over this is because for years Ari would ask a friend, zed, if his dog (whose name I don't recall) was "still alive" and was incredibly ageist towards certain animals. Which sounds like a bitchy thing, but 95% of the time it was funny (and I can say this as someone who was on the receiving end of the question for a few pets).
And then she got Bee and she'd still make the cracks, but it was now a coping mechanism, especially the last year or two when Bee would cheat death on a regular basis.
While Miss Bee and I never bonded the way I have with her other dog, Beefy (...yes), I loved her for making Ari love her so, if that makes any sense.
The kicker is that I didn't know there was anything wrong with her aside from a case of the being olds.
Worst of all, Ari was out of town for this, so Bee died with Penny.
Out of respect for Bee, I will not follow that with anything other than a pause for... reasons.
I'll miss you, Bee. Go find Dad and see if you can charm him. It shouldn't be hard, what with your unusual gait, your snoring that was exceptionally loud given how very small you were, and your fluffiness. Also, your licking of table legs.
