Royals comin' through.
I AM TRIUMPHANT!
So, I'll be honest and say that I have avoided a lot of the EAH doll photo posts because of a raging case of jealousy and until today I wasn't sure we still had a Justice in the mall. (We do. Clearly.) But because it was my birthday, Mums called and had them set aside any characters they had. In this case they had the Royals. Which is a bit woe for my Maddie love but since I think Briar is, hands down, the prettiest of the four, it was also a win. This afternoon she and Widget braved the mall and voila.
Shinies! (I then went home and ordered Maddie online because she was back in stock. Raven I want to pick out in person... or get paid. Whichever.)
Because I hadn't taken a good long look at the boxed pics before, I hadn't really realized how much they're set up to resemble books. I know, how could I have fully missed it? So if you're like me and missed it, let me walk you through the various ways this is awesome, k? We're using Briar because she's so pretty!

This is the top of the box. It looks like a storybook with pages and everything.

Right hand side is the spine. EEEE! *dies*
Because Apple would sneak out of her box and cut me without this shot. I'm not sure if I'll be deboxing her before I move or not, truthfully. Not because she isn't lovely (that skintone! Those eyes!) but because I'm afraid I'll lose her fiddly bits and also, um, we're moving. :P
Briar, however, is getting deboxed tonight sometime because she is that pretty. Which is funny because of the four characters, she's the one I'm most "enh" about but doll wise? Glorious!
Go figure.
In general, I'm still trying to sort out how I feel about them. I think the facemolds are a little... flat? They do remind me a fair bit of the Moxie girls only not as sweet, which is a good thing in that the Moxies were/are very pretty but they also looked the same for every damn line. Different company so it's not something I'm worrying about at the moment. I do wish there were a bit more spark to the molds/face-ups but it's also only been a couple of hours and most of those were spent awwwing over kittens so... not a fair amount of time has been spent with them to do more than pass along thoughts I had previously.
(Except for Briar being prettier in person. Cuz yeah, she is.)
Depending on packing tomorrow, we'll see about better Briar pics. :D

Quick thought: Should I wait until you're settled in to ship birthday presents? I have something I want to send to you, but don't want to burden you with "ugh, one more thing to pack!" :p
I'm glad you said it about the face molds! I really like these dolls and want them, but yeah, the faces lack personality, I guess? Depth? Which is a little sad, but the rest of the design compensates at least. And of course, that won't stop me from buying them. ;)

I'm not entirely sure how packages will work at Townhouse so...there's that. Plus I fear no extra things to pack and it'll save me having to find a box for whatever it is. ;)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like there's something missing some spark. Which is vexing because the art for the webisodes (have you watched yet?) and the general art is so pretty and dynamic and actually prettier than the MH stuff. And EAH is the opposite. Weird.
