So close and yet so very far
Good morning! It's now nine days until Christmas and I've just shaved down most of the remainder of my Christmas list! If everything appears on time, I can cross Widget's gifts off my list and I bought Mums her secondary gift. This still leaves her sofa to be rustled up but at least this way she'll have something under the tree. :)
Widget and I went for a walk last night before the Psych musical (that fucking US Weekly ruined the death for me. Who the fuck does that? That's right, we need to swear about this!) and while looking at the lights I got him to tell me stuff he actually wanted. He never once mentioned Skylanders Swapforce so I decided to forgo that listen to what he said he wanted. He wanted a card for his 3DS so he could do... whatever it is he does with them. So I bought one of those. He wanted a warm jacket. I bought one that might work. We'll find out, I suppose. He wanted a "big, warm blanket" so I went to see if I could find one like the one Mums and I fell in love with at Walmart. Sadly that was only available in store or for store pickup and I'll be damned if I'm doing another store pickup myself. That involved being snottily told I had to wait til 7 to do anything and then, at 7:10, being told they didn't think that particular area opened until 9. He did eventually go find my item anyway, but it really was enough to make me realize Walmart found a new way to make their store experience even worse. Good job!
Anyway, I found a similar one and bought one for him and one for Mums. I really wanted to order one for myself but it wasn't the one in store and I really shouldn't, so I didn't.
But, alas, on the walk Widget said that the only gift he'd made/bought was for the lady across the street. So all those times he went out "Christmas shopping" with her? Yeah, he was blowing money on himself.
So I have to pony up money for him to give people things because the boy owes me a crap-ton of money and if I hit him up for Widget present money, he'll just decide to add it to his tab.
The boy returned home from the family reunion with fudge that he was all excited about sharing. This year he didn't say it was the best ever, but it was kind of implied. I don't think fudge should ever leave a bitter taste in your mouth so I'm still not a fan. It was pretty, I will grant them that.
I'm quickly spiraling into a funk, so I'm going to stop thinking about unhappy stuff and concentrate on the fact that Mums has her owl tree and I can help her add to it. :)
I had my Christmas spirit for about ten minutes there. Now where did it go?
