Joss Book 1 and shipping issues with book 2

I don't understand Amazon. At all. I really don't get why my CS person keeps saying "I understand" when dude, I really don't think you do?

I ordered Joss's books back at the start of the month when the great and powerful Trixie Lori mentioned that for whatever reason, book 2 was scheduled to ship super early. Yeah, it didn't for me, which I kinda expected. Book 2 went from promising me the same delivery date (the 10th, maybe?) to limbo to tail end of December to... uh, January 24th. So imagine my surprise when book 1 shipped and arrived yesterday. Huzzah! Book 2 bounced back and forth between "Tuesday! Release day! The 24th!" and finally settled on the January date. Which I figured was just Amazon being weird. So I look at the listing and it's telling me if I ordered today, it'd show up this Saturday.

Confusion. Why is Saturday an option but mine is still very much pretending it won't show up for a literal month? So I pop onto the chat to ask, figuring I'll get a "lol, no, not the 24th." I don't. I keep getting "I understand" and a cut and paste thing on why shipping dates change. Like I get that. But this seems weird, so maybe either cancel my original order and swap in the faster shipping or change the listing so it's not telling people the wrong date or something beyond "I understand."

When I told him I'd let it ride til after Christmas, since the official release date isn't until Dec. 26th anyway, we somehow got into "well, I could cancel the original order and order another one and see if that will come sooner." GEE. If only someone had suggested that ten minutes ago. Wait. I did. Then I got transferred to someone else who immediately says no can do, as it's gotta be offered by Amazon itself.

It is...

Seriously, either give me my money back or just leave my order alone and I'll deal with it after Christmas because you guys seem to be dumb as shit. It's Christmas Eve and you don't wanna do anything? Fine. You should've let me walk away when I tried. JESUS.

Anyway. I read book one.

I hate the best friend fight trope (not going to tvtropes to find out what it's actually called) so goddamn much and as soon as Sofia, Joss's best friend, shows up making art while Joss wants to be out in the water, I knew we'd wind up in hell. And we did. *bangs head on keyboard* Who do I have to bribe to get a GOTY who isn't in a snit with a friend pretty much right off the bat? It can be done! And it's one of those fights you can see coming a mile away (I guess I already said that, huh) annnnnnnnd Joss is in the wrong to start with.

It doesn't help that I didn't love the start of the book as it leans hard into the surfing but somehow does nothing for me even though I was looking forward to that aspect. It'll later lean just as hard into "cheer's not a real sport" and the surfer girls vs cheerleaders.

Fine, I guess that's probably still a thing.

My weariness over things that might not really be an issue for the target audience aside, I like a lot about Joss. Her relationships with her brothers feel pretty realistic, her deafness is handled pretty well, I think, and the supporting cast is pretty spiffy.

I didn't finish the book and immediately want the Joss doll, though I do wish I had book 2. Ah well.

After an hour+ with Amazon, I should have a $10 credit annnnnnnnnd maybe they'll ship my book as is, maybe they won't. Guess we'll find out in a couple of business days.

Ha, I find that comical because I ordered both books earlier and yet I'll be waiting on my Book 1 until Friday (or maybe Thursday if they get their shit together) whereas yours came already. That just adds another layer of making no sense. Hell, I'd go ahead and cancel the order and reorder it. It says in stock on the site.
