Claudie day, Claudie day! Ignore the pictures having that stupid Pinterest thing on them. I'm too tired to do this the less lazy way.

Claudie Wells Doll // $115
Item#HGY74
Claudie Wells™ wants more than anything to be a person whose imagination can fly, instead of a person whose feet are stuck on the ground. She’s growing up in the neighborhood of Harlem in New York City during the 1920s, surrounded by writers and poets, painters and sculptors, actors and dancers, singers and musicians. When an eviction notice threatens her family, her friends, and the beloved home they share, Claudie has an idea that just might save the day. But first she’ll have to find the confidence to let her imagination soar.
Premium features:
An 18" Claudie™ doll with dark skin, brown eyes that open and close, and shoulder-length hair with tight curls that comes in a half-up style with a wide green hairbow. She has a soft cotton body, and her movable head and limbs are made of smooth vinyl.
Also includes:
A yarn-dyed woven plaid dress with a Peter Pan collar, a green knit cardigan sweater, a pair of black Mary Jane shoes, a pair of white knee-high socks, and a pair of cotton underwear
A Meet Claudie paperback book by Brit Bennett
AG's photography is wildly inconsistent. Sometimes Claudie looks goddamn adorable. Sometimes she looks vacant at best. It's interesting that her Meet outfit is giving me Kit and Melody vibes, especially since she's our next boarding house character. In general, I like this. It's definitely plain enough to make kids want to buy the shiny outfits offered but is still cute enough. I do appreciate her sweater being included and not stuck with the accessory set. Huzzah!
Claudie's Accessories // $36
Item#HJP98
When Claudie goes out with Mama to track down sources for the articles she's writing, these accessories help her feel like she has her own story to tell too.
Premium features:
A silver metal necklace with a heart-shaped pendant that has Claudie's initial engraved on it
An authentic-style 1920s Baby Ruth candy bar
Also includes:
A blue felt cloche hat, a brown bag with piping details and a front pocket
A journal printed to look like faux leather with interior pages, some blank and others printed with writing and sketches
Why is the inclusion of the candy bar cracking me up? I like that this set is a nice counter to the glitz of the rest of the collection and I'm a sucker for the promise of a notebook having the character using it before it gets to me. The return of the necklaces and bag combo is lovely and while I'm not in love with the bag or hat, I realize that's my preferences and not a thing against the actual items. Probably.

Sparkly Skirt and Fur Trim Top // $48
HMJ51
Timeless design meets starlet shine. Designer Samantha Black—in collaboration with Harlem’s Fashion Row®—puts 1920s glamour in the spotlight with this special-edition outfit that shines from head to toe.
Includes:
A wide black headband adorned with rose-gold sparkle foil and a button accent in front
A black long-sleeved top with allover rose-gold print and fabulous faux-fur trim at the wrists and neckline
A satin pleated skirt with rose-gold sequin accents that sparkle as she spins
Black tights woven with sparkly thread
Shiny black shoes dotted with clear rhinestones on the ankle straps
I like bits of this and other bits aren't my favorite. I feel like the shoes are a letdown but the top and tights are fab. Could've lived my life without those sequins on the skirt but I've found that AG's sequins frequently tend to not be my favorite look and I am not afraid of sequins. I'm hoping that this round of HFR looks does better than the last which wound up quickly marked down all over the place. I mean, if these were marked down I could more easily buy them, but I'm hoping for better things for AG.

Glitzy Sequin Gown and Capelet Outfit // $50
Item#HMJ52
Whimsical style meets serious sparkle. Designer Samantha Black—in collaboration with Harlem’s Fashion Row®—creates a modern take on 1920s opulence in this special-edition outfit that’s gilded in gold.
Includes:
A gold glitter headpiece that frames her face
A dress entirely covered with gold sequins—look closely to see it’s a leotard wrapped by a full, flounced skirt
Matching golden sandals
A high-neck capelet that commands attention: it’s covered in gold sequins and features contrasting silver trim
Holy shit, this is the standout of the collection. I definitely wish it was less yellow gold and more gold-gold but if your eyes didn't immediately land and stay on this when you scrolled, you're a less "oooh, shiny!" person than I. :P Also, bets on how many people snag these and then have it used as a Halloween sun costume? Anyone?

Jazzy Flapper and Fur Coat Outfit // $48
Item#HMJ50
Soulful jazz meets modern pizazz. Designer Samantha Black—in collaboration with Harlem’s Fashion Row®—composes a modern take on 1920s style in this special-edition outfit that pairs a playful dress silhouette with a little bit of luxe.
Includes:
A blue satin dress with a high neck, lace accents, and a scalloped-edge hem
A creamy white, curly faux-fur coat that adds an exquisite touch for evening events
A large satin hairbow made to match
Shiny black shoes with thin straps and low heels that are just right for a night of dancing!
I didn't quite do a spittake when I read the flapper bit but it was pretty close. If you told me the entire reason they teamed up with Harlem's Fashion Row again was to get this as a historically inspired outfit so they could have a flapper outfit without getting called out as easily for y'know, having a flapper outfit for a child, I would 1000% believe you. It's not AG's first use of a flapper dress but definitely the one skirting it the closest to getting called out for it as I'm wondering how many people are going to take the time to read it's a modern spin and not just go with the easier conclusion.
All that aside, I really do like the dress. I find the shoes incredibly dull and I could take or leave the coat, though if it's super soft I'm okay with it. I just don't know how long these special edition outfits will be around and I'm kinda broke.

Claudie's Jazz Performance Outfit // $36
Item#HRJ03
When Claudie takes dance lessons with her best friend, Nina, she gets to wear this fancy flapper-style outfit.
Includes:
A purple satin dress with black ruffles and a black sash at the waist
A matching satin headband with a large bow on the side
A pair of silver sparkle tap shoes
I kinda love the shoes. I like the outfit more than I thought I would. I love the fact that they incorporated black into the dress and this is one of those outfits where you can find real photos of the same dress being used back in the day so that's nice.

Claudie's Yellow Bloom Pajamas // $36
Item#HRJ08
Claudie has big dreams of having a special talent all her own, just like her friends in the boardinghouse.
Includes:
A pair of jumpsuit pajamas with a purple flower print, ruffles at the hems, and mock buttons on the front
A pair of faux-fur bunny slippers
A faux-silk head wrap, just like the one Claudie's mother would put on her at night after she rubbed a bit of pomade into her scalp

Claudie's Bed // $150
Item#HRJ06
At bedtime, Claudie's little brother often asks her to put on a puppet show for him. Claudie sets up a cardboard stage at the end of the bed, and the show begins!
Premium features:
A blue wood-frame bed with raised and printed details on the headboard and footboard, crafted in the same 1920s style Claudie would have had
Also includes:
A stuffed mattress pad
A bedspread with detailed flower embroidery
A cylindrical-shaped pillow that spans the width of the bed
Two decorative pillows with ruffled fabric edging
I want to like this more than I do. I know it's wood but it legit looks like plastic at first. I love the blue used and I like the style but something just isn't quite there for me. Maybe it's the fact that there's no side table or real accessories to give it depth? I dunno. I could just be picky with doll beds that I know will take up a chunk of room. :P

Angelo's Bakery // $295
Item#HRJ00
This authentically styled 1920s bakery is full of delicious details! It’s designed after Angelo's Bakery in Harlem where Claudie's father makes elaborately decorated cakes.
Premium features:
A three-panel bakery with a wall that hinges inward. The store side features printed art and a built-in storage cabinet with decorative detail. The bakery side features printed detail and built-in oven with a door that opens to "bake" food items.
A three-tiered bakery case and checkout counter with a gold "Angelo's Bakery" logo on front window. It’s designed to display baked goods with extra space along one side for the cashbox and checkout.
A bakery prep table with hooks to hold utensils and a lower shelf for extra storage. Just like the real thing, it has side panels to keep dry goods like flour and baking soda from flying off the sides.
A three-level bakery cart to transport baked goods from back-of-house to front of bakery.
Also includes:
Era-authentic checkout counter: A black and gold cash box and faux money including three faux dollar bills, five pennies, three nickels, and two quarters, five price signs, three-tier display tray for holding fruit, and an apron
Kitchen gear: A mixing bowl, a whisk, a large spoon, a set of measuring cups, an icing bag, a masher, a flour sifter, a rolling pin, a baking pan, 3 different sized baking sheets, 2 clear pie pans, an oven paddle, a cake stand, and a serving knife
Sweet treats: Baked goods including banana coconut fritters, a lemon cake with white icing, a guava orange cake roll, a chocolate cake, a sweet potato pie, a strawberry pie, a pineapple upside-down cake, a loaf of braided bread, three pretzels, two loaves of rye bread, and two baguettes
All the ingredients: Loads of baking ingredients including a carton of six eggs, a bag of flour, a box of baking soda, a box of oats, a can of pineapple slices, a bottle of olive oil, a bottle of milk, jars of sugar and brown sugar, a jar of strawberry filling, a clump of rolled dough, and fruit including lemons, bananas, and berries
I might've done an actual doubletake at the realization that they put gold glitter in the brown sugar jar. Honestly, I love the colors and a lot about this but that price tag means it's never coming home. Which is fine. It's beautiful but not within my reach and thus I shall not dwell on it. I do agree that it's a bit much to be charging this much and have a fair chunk of the display piece be stickers though.

Claudie's Dress Up Accessory Set // $45

A metal closure and a beaded fabric bag with drawstring closure
A blue paperboard hatbox with a lid that lifts off and a cord handle

AG, you must be outta your damn mind charging that much for tights, a necklace, and a hatbox. Seriously, what the actual hell?

Claudie's Kick Scooter // $65
Item#HRJ02
Claudie rides her orange kick scooter all over her Harlem neighborhood, often with Miss Amelia's fluffy little dog running behind her. It has a metal frame, handlebar grips for the doll, a wooden floorboard to stand on, and a kickstand to keep it upright.
Behold. A scooter. It's orange which is a nice change of pace, I suppose. I cannot bring myself to be all that excited about this, but if it's doing it for you, more power to you.

Claudie's Dog Dizzy Dot // $30
Item#HJP99
Claudie and her brother love to play with Dizzy Dot, the dog that belongs to the boardinghouse manager, Miss Amelia. Dizzy Dot is a plush mixed-breed pup with long brown-and-white fur and a pink bow on the top of her head.
Cackling over the fact that AG fans were fighting over what breed Dizzy Dot is and it turns out that she's a mixed breed. Ha! Also, damn. I think she's cuter than I originally thought. But not at that price, AG. Nope.
Had I the funds right now, we'd be getting Claudie and her accessories, her PJs, the glitzy outfit, and maaaaaaaaaybe the flapper outfit. The dog's gotta wait til I know how important she is to the plot. Also, kinda weird not getting the second book right away. o_O

no subject
So if I end up liking her, I'll probably get the doll, the flapper outfit and the jazz outfit, then sell the meet, the flapper coat and maybe the jazz headband. I could see myself putting her in the flapper dress and Melody in the jazz outfit. I'd make room for her beside Melody so they could stand together. I'm gonna have to really like her though. I'm massively running out of AG room and every time I get one, I have to completely rearrange to make space. I did it for Corinne though and then nudged everyone over for Eydis. I can do it again. Hmm, I just went and looked. All I'd have to do is bring Grace down from behind Marie-Grace and scoot Kit behind her, then put Claudie behind Rebecca where Kit was. Then she's next to Melody. Then Grace could join the others on the more modern shelf. We'll see.
I wonder when the second book will come out. I don't like waiting! But if I love her, I will probably love her from the first book.
