March 2 is apparently the day I stop giving any fucks. At work some jackass decided to be a jackass and mouthed off when I said I needed his ID for his cigs. "No, you just need my birth date." No, jackass, I need to see your ID. "NO, according to the law, if I'm older than 21..." Dude, bro, shut the fuck up and let me type in your birth date from the ID you're already showing me. NOPE. So I called my sfl, handed her the money and the cigs and told her I wasn't ringing this asshole up. I rarely play the call management card when it comes to noping out of service but dude was such a smug piece of shit about it that I had no problem telling him that if he was going to act like that, I didn't have to ring him up and someone else could deal with him. Annnnnnnd he couldn't just flounce off since I had his money. :P

Seriously though. It's been YEARS since work changed policy. Yes, sometimes it's absolutely ridiculous but you can't have easy things because Florida. Deal with it or go elsewhere, I don't fucking care. Ugh.

I've also shot the finger to AG fandom (in my head, I don't feel like going down in flames yet) for the one-two punch of someone who complains all the fucking time about how negative AG fandom is jumping alllllllllllll the fuck over someone for an innocent comment and then flouncing because people... made a thread about stuff they'd want to come back and she read it. Dude, I know that thread's likely to be dumb as fuck so I avoided it. Policing your own reactions isn't always difficult but no, she needed people to kiss her ass AGAIN.

Then we have the chick who is forever running to the nearest store and making herself the star of fandom for being the first to fully report back being all over the twins but ignoring the fuck out of Kavi for "political reasons" and if anyone dares to bring any negativity into her post, she's just going to stop posting reviews at all. Ma'am, I wish you would. I hate that Kavi's gotten dragged through the goddamn mud because people are assholes, but your Kavi ban until people caught on and went, "waaaaaaaaaait a minute, why are you all over the twins but radio silent about Kavi?" is kind of a shitty look for someone who is already known to be kind of shitty in that overly sheltered homeschool way.

In other news, I tried to get some sleep today and I think results were mixed. You could tell the moment my cough meds wore off... and yes, I was clearly tempting fate with my feeling better post. :P Though, to be fair, I don't feel awful *knock on wood* I just keep coughing and my head hurts. But there's also so much fucking pollen in the air that I finally had to hose off the car because it was just completely yellow. I'm pretty sure that in the morning it'll be yellow again. Fuck, I hate spring.

I've gotten roped into doing Mom's laundry which means my shower has been postponed. Not sure if this is a good thing or not.

Sometime tonight I'm gonna open Kavi and maybe work on my TBR pile. I have to finish my library books so I can get to C's books, and then I should be able to read the books Lori sent, though I might cheat and read one of those sooner, depending on how things go with Coven.

Oh! One of the weird bright spots of the day was being awake and online and in time to watch the live verdict on the Murdaugh case. Alex Murdaugh's the guy who killed his wife and younger son and then later said someone tried to kill him when he had car trouble, only to find out that nah, dude paid someone to kill him even though that dude said nope, if I'd been paid to do that, bitch would be dead. Ah, SC, you only hit national news for shitty reasons, but at least this time you handed out the right verdict.

I'm afraid to ask what "political reasons" there are to avoid Kavi. What's political about Indian-Americans?

That just made me want her. I wanted to be more excited for her and her book taking eons to come out made me less so, but if she's getting hate from the racists, then I'm going all in. Apparently, there's something in me that's easily manipulated by dolls being made into the underdogs. Heh. Nicki's being left out of the BFF list by her sister was her winning point and now this will push Kavi into the "will buy this year" column. Claudie won me over thanks to her books, not that she's an underdog. Though she might consider herself one.

Nicki has shipped and it says she'll be here Saturday, but that seems too soon. I'm going to aim for Claudie as my next purchase. I'm thinking Kavi would be a sweet birthday present, considering we have the same birthday. Maybe Mom will get her for me!

I don't know. I'm thinking she's either actually one of those people who freaks out at non-Christian/Jewish religions OR has seen how others do and is all "too much drama!" I want to ask but I really do not want the active posters who do like this chick coming for me for daring to ask and chasing away the board person most likely to go and answer their in person questions. People keep dancing around racist shit when it comes to Kavi and it's maddening. She's too brown for some and not brown enough for others and it's just a lot. Factor it in with people pointing out that neither she nor Claudie had the sales AG hoped/expected and both fall into fandom underdog territory. I still need to buy/read Claudie's book.

Oooh! I hope your Nicki shows up soon. Kavi took a week exactly to show up, but didn't show anything beyond "shipped, sitting in WI" until the day before she appeared.

And yes, birthday twin Kavi would be an excellent birthday gift for you. :D

Not sure what people expected sales-wise for Kavi when her release was timed with the knowledge that the 90s twins were coming and I bet she took a huge hit because of that. Her collection is also a bit lackluster. We've had plenty of performers before and even a better Indian outfit. She reminds me of Gabi, feeling a bit phoned in and there just to appease the people that wanted diversity.

Claudie I can't give a guess for. Her biggest failing to me was the overly expensive, overly short book, but most people likely don't judge their doll purchases based on characterization like I tend to do.

I'd love to know the sales figures for the new Truly Mes. The ones I see most often on IG are definitely not the white dolls.

Nicki is the usual spot in WI. At least it doesn't say label created!

I'm hoping that with the twins being out now, people who were waiting and hedging their bets will go ahead and get Kavi now that they don't have to wonder what if. She's so cute! I don't really get AG's current trend towards not having that much for collections and how they bundle things is always very weird.

Claudie has a few things going against her. People are very weird about new molds for AGs. So you've got the people who don't like the new mold and will take years to come around, if ever. Then she got overshadowed by the first HP release. As far as I can tell, Claudie never got her own catalog cover unless they specifically made and marketed them to Black families, but I'd imagine someone, somewhere, would've posted that by now. And if my memory is faulty, she didn't get one for her release. That honor went to the TM relaunch which is the next thing that sunk her battleship. People didn't even have to wait that long before AG threw a gazillion new dolls at them and poor Claudie got lost in the shuffle. Factor in that the outfits that sold well were the most expensive non-historical and there's very little in her collection to play with and, well...

Rainbow haired Nanea must be doing well as she's on backorder, as are quite a few others. So if nothing else, the relaunch for the TM seems to be going well enough? Unless it's good but not good enough. Someone posted that the best sellers aren't necessarily the ones seen most on IG but I'd imagine backorders probably give a decent view into what's moving at least.

Dah, I totally forgot the TM blitz was alongside Claudie. I honestly don't love her mold. Her mouth is oddly wide open. But my love for the character outweighs that. Poor girl.

I'm kind of hopeful that Claudie is a doll best seen in person to be truly appreciated. Which is unfortunate for AG given how many stores they're closing but that's on them.
