Oh, AG. Pay your IT people, dammit (or don't, I love the chaos.)
In AG related news, right after I finally caved to the 2x the points sale before it ended, apparently there was a leak of the 2026 GOTY. Because AG clearly pays their IT people fucking peanuts.
The leak happened on the storage trunk page, which is why these all feature it. Anyway, this is Raquel Reyes, I believe. I cannot with people saying she's Kavi mixed with... whoever they keep saying. Maybe Samantha? I dunno. Fuck that shit, this is just Maritza without the red streaks and maybe with less angry eyebrows, but still weird ones and semi-crossed eyes because AG hasn't figured out that their tweaks to how they paint the Joss mold make the dolls look... weird.
There are a LOT of nods to Samantha to the point that the general consensus is that she's Samantha's descendant, which makes sense since 2026 is their 40th anniversary and Sam is still very much thought of as the face of AG by a LOT of people. We've got Sam's picture, a peppermint icecream recipe card next to the picture, Piney Point is where Sam and company spent the summers, the plaid Meet outfit is a subtle nod, the pink and green striped pajamas? have straps that remind me of all Sam's pinafores, Sam's valentines seem to be on the journal/book, and Sam's locket is also on that shelf, and let us not ignore the half pony hairdo. The Sam vibes are very much there.
I'd like to throttle whoever threw out the idea that the icecream recipe might mean that Sam and Eddie (he who ruined her birthday party icecream with salt and was also her neighbor and in general an ass) got together because FUCK THAT NOISE. Ahem. But it'd likely kill Eddie, if this were true, to have a descendant named Reyes... y'know if he wasn't already dead and also fictional. :P
In theory, I am here for this. I love me some Samantha nostalgia. Alas, I have Maritza and as much as I do like her, she does have some QC issues and I don't see them fixing this for Raquel, and the funky eyebrows have been enough to keep me away from the twins... so we'll see. But I do like the pink plaid dress, and the platform shoes remind me of Cass wearing platforms for most of our teenage years.
Kinda tickled by the pickleball set though I know nothing about the sport. :P If the striped outfit is indeed PJs, and I can't think of anything else it would be considering it looks like the slippers go with it, I want/I need. The purple dress looks kinda plain but I'm thinking it'll look much better actually ON a doll, and I do think they've made these outfits in colors that'll look good on the doll. This is not always true. Not sure what the other pink/green outfit is.
Kinda curious what else she'll get. As a 40th anniversary thing, I dig it. I just wish she wasn't so similar to a doll I already own.

They did just re-release Sam (again!) and she just got her birthday outfit re-released. I'm choosing to be cautiously optimistic on this whole thing because I don't mind knowing a little about what happened later, but also I'm fully ready to pretend this NEVER HAPPENED if they married her off to Eddie or do something equally bad.
