New AG Stuff

It's June which means the summer/fall release of AG stuff has hit!

As per usual, our Girl of the Year, Saige, gets some new stuff including her movie (it'll air on NBC in early July if that's your thing), an accessory set, and an outfit as seen on Paula Deen. You've got some fabulous timing, AG.

Saige's Tunic Outfit: $28

Saige's Picnic Set: $38

Well. I am positively underwhelmed by Saige's collection as a whole with a few exceptions. (They made her a friggin' hot air balloon. Still cannot get over that. Will never get over that. NEVER FORGET.) And yet I gather she's selling like hot cakes and some of her stuff has spent much of the year on and off of backorder, so... that's... a thing.

Elsewhere, the Bitty Twins got new stuff and I yawned.

MyAG stuff is new but a lot of it isn't really my thing. There's an unusual green outfit that I'm pretty sure I could have pictured on my Great Aunt or Grandmother. It's part of their return to having three outfits you can order as a set for mix-n-match potential or buy seperately if you can't stand one (or two) of the outfits.

New Stuff Can Be Found Here. The first four pages are filled with the stuff that's actually new this go round.

Of interest to me:

Science Lab Set: $36
I'm looking forward to seeing how awesome this is or is not based on photos from actual owners and not promotional stuff. It could go either way, really. But at this point if it doesn't fall apart upon deboxing, it's a case of put up or shut up. If you want them to do stuff that isn't simply a parade of sports, then you pony up otherwise you don't get to bitch. :P

Polka Dot Flats: $14
Cute, no? I don't have any thing they could wear them with nor do I really want to spend $14 on doll shoes, but they're cute and likely to be overlooked.

Purple Espadrilles: $14
Ditto, only these I do have outfits for.

Sweet Socks and Tights: $12
These I actually want and will likely acquire. But it's sad that you can get three pairs of socks/tights for less than a pair of doll shoes. :P

Silver Stitch Hoodie $14
Hoodie is the same price as shoes. Weird. Ivy has plans for this.

Witch Costume: $34
Lack of cute name aside, I'm torn on this one. On the one hand, boots! On the other hand, I have a witch costume that isn't nearly as cheap looking as this. Or is, but in a witchier way? I'm not sure. On the other hand, there is something incredibly awesome about how little this outfit is trying. "Witch? I don't think I understand this concept. Have a broom and a hat. There!"

Talent Show Set $38
This, however, is four bucks more and you get the pet accessories to go along with it. Which is the perfect excuse to finally buy little Meatloaf! Not that I needed one, mind you. It just is. I actually really like this one and I don't know WHY.

Purple Peacock PJs: $24
Jammas.

The best thing about this release is they released hair pieces, and you never get the opportunity to say that enough.
Hair Do Helpers.

The buns, ponytails, and headbands come in additional colors that should match most of the MyAGs currently available but you're probably hosed on the named dolls. I want the fun colored extensions but that bun is a decided DNW. I can understand why they'd have a massively long ponytail: you can cut it if you want and in this case bigger probably is better. But the bun? The bun just looks painful. Maybe it's because I do have long hair and I know how heavy it can be? Or maybe it's because those buns are about as big as their heads? :P I'd like the braided hairbands but a) I can do that trick on my own and b) I gather that they're pretty difficult to put on. We'll see how other reports call it.

Oh, they also released two new MyAG dolls (and are phasing out two older ones) but as I'm not in the market for any classic molds at all, yeah. No thank you. I'm having enough trouble with the fact that both Molly and Saige are classic molds, I will not be adding no names to the list.

In general, I'm kind of meh to this release which is good because I can concentrate on Molly and moving and stuff, and bad because sometimes I'm meh until someone takes a really good picture and then I'm doomed. Til then, I am content with only wanting a little and none of it is an immediate want.

In other news, Molly's archival announcement has prompted sniping from two of my least favorite people on Playthings. I'm torn between cheering because someone (anyone) is saying something not super nicey-nice to them but... I loathe them both. I feel like the universe should go explodey at this point. o_O

I just have to say that I ADORE the science set. Purely on principle. For such a girly product line to introduce a SCIENCE playset is amazing to me and deserves to be purchased to send a message letting Mattel know that they did a good thing. Sports are cool too, I guess, but lots of girls aren't into them. And lots of girls love science but are often made to feel like they shouldn't. I am loving that a major company is validating girls in science like this. WOOT!

I also actually really like the witch costume. I think it's really cute.
