Monster High Chatter #7, Draculaura
Ohmyglob. I guess we're gonna tackle Draculaura who has an INSANE number of dolls.
First up: I think the reboot is likely to do Draculaura the most favors. She's always looked too severe in her doll form compared to her animated counterpart and it was actually one of the things I disliked most about her Sig. I mean, sometimes the look works really well and sometimes it's jarring since she's the character most likely to skip up to you, hug you, and welcome you to MH with the biggest smile ever.
Anyway. *cough* We begin. And I should warn you that I'm likely to be doing this over a couple/few days and cobbling it together, so it may be a little disjointed. Or brilliant. I suppose we'll find out, won't we? It'll also mean that in any given category, it's not likely they're in any particular order unless otherwise stated. It's just how we'll be going down the list.
eta: holy crap. If not for her hair, Draculaura's looks are basically what, four different variations? How did I not notice? Is it that I tend to like two of the looks enough to give it a pass to the others? On the other hand, it's actually been awhile since I bought a Lala, so maybe I realized it deep down? *muse*
Favorites:

Dead Tired, w1: Oh my dolly gods, I love DT Draculaura. I know I've said the more vixen-y look isn't super Draculaura, but I loved the smaller eyes for this release. While she doesn't have my favorite outfit, I don't think I've ever really noticed or cared before. Those pigtails!
Sig. Draculaura's sig only has one big problem and that's her expression. That aside, I love her pigtails, her boots, her little umbrella (I wish it opened), her outfit... those earrings. Basically I love it all and it's a good way to start. Also, Count Fab! ♥
Dead Tired w2: Sooooooooo... I have a problem. It's true. But W2 DT is super pretty and I can't hear anyone who says otherwise. Lalala, can't hear youuuuuuu. I will admit that her outfit is a little basic, but at the time it wasn't a harbinger of doom, k? And no milk fangs!
DotD: Draculaura in black lipstick? Sign. Me. Up. I bought this multipack without even thinking about it, I wanted Draculaura that much. She's the Draculaura that I think of as the one who fell off the vegan wagon. She looks decidedly wicked and I love it.

Roadster: Didn't get the car, bought the doll on ebay when I couldn't find her in store. Which means I overpaid, but I regret nothing because I loooooooooove this Draculaura. She looks very... old Hollywood, somehow? Gotta be the hair. Mine is still in gel-slicked back form because it's one of the few cases where I like the look.
Dracubecca: By virtue of being a Freaky Fusion, she has to look different which automatically makes her stand out. I also liked their fusion in the movie and basically this is just a cute look that I wound up liking more than I thought I would.
Haunted: Someone's cuter than she has a right to be... I love the Haunted line so I'm biased. Painfully so. But in a sea of Draculauras who would look identical dressed in the same outfit, Haunted stands out.
GSR: I'm not sure she's exactly a favorite, but she's so over the top unusual that I'm pretty smitten.
Swim Class: Horrible promo picture for an adorable doll. I've got one of the ones with a bunch of pink in her hair and my favorite sort of fangs and basically she's all neon pink and awesome. ♥
Honorable Mentions:

Die-Ner Draculaura is adorable. Her outfit's cute. My particular doll is really pretty and I think I paid $5 for the whole thing, so... um, yeah. That automatically makes things better.
DDG: So pretty. Really simple outfit, but so pretty all the same. I think I have a massive soft spot for all the Draculauras without bangs, actually.
Powder Room. Fluffy curls! Count Fab in a robe! This couldn't really be a more simple doll but I think she's loverly. And while I don't really have room for the plastic furniture stuff, I'm pretty sure this set is still in one of my storage boxes because it's just cute and I'm a sucker for a doll tub.
Ghouls Rule. So delightfully and adorably over the top. I just love her, from her fangtastic wings to her fluffy curls. And that outfit is surprisingly fun to work with.
Gloom Beach. Oh, joy. Pink and yellow. So soon. I'd forgotten, somehow, they began this color combo so freakin' quickly. Meh. Meh, I say. However, I have really fond memories of GB Draculaura, which is why she's rated so high. :)
Killer Style is basically GB with better clothes, so she's here in HM land. Plus Count Fab keychain!
Skull Shores. I've got both the single and the multipack versions and I know I like one more than the other. One is prettier than GB (doll wise) and one just has better clothes. I like the jaunty little hat. I do remember that whichever one I don't like as much is slated for customization at some point. So one of them would be a meh and one is a yay. Dolls are complicated. Quick jaunt over to Flickr tells me I like the single pack better because the multi has the darker eyes/milk fang.
Scarily Ever After/Scary Tales/Snow Bite: She's kind of the inverse of 1600. I love the head (and the shoes!) but the outfit itself kind of falls really short of the mark. I get that the green is supposed to represent the poison layer (sorta like a caramel apple but... with green poison) but it just did not translate well into fabric. But I really like the line idea and wish we'd gotten more. I really love MH when they do fun themes like this.
Scaris: Surprisingly really pretty. My expectations were low for whatever reason, but she's a gorgeous doll. I like the simple outfit, I love her simple shoes, and she's just cute as hell.
13 Wishes: mine was a lovely gift from
luxken27 so that helps the love. Mine also has a lot of pink hair and seems smaller than other Draculauras that I've got. She's a cutie.

Because I'm lazy, here's an old shot with Gloom Beach, DT1, W1 the second, and W1 the first.
Meh:

FCA: Y'know, for the star of the show, Draculaura didn't get as much this go round. Ah well. In any case, you'll notice that we're not using the promo picture for this particular doll. Why? Because I can't with the bobble head thing they had going on. It offends me on a deep, personal level. So that's my FCA doll. She's cute, she's pretty, she's...there. Milk fang. Boo. Hiss. Fun fact: I knew I was forgetting someone when assembling this list. She's who I forgot. Or one of the ones, if I've missed more...
1600: I love the outfit, the shoes, the extras, the line in general... I just don't like Draculaura's face/hair. So below the neck, she's an honorable mention. Above the neck, she's a meh. Together? Well, there's a lot of Draculaura so sometimes hard choices must be made.
Wave 2: Ummmmm... err... if it weren't for the yellow, I'd really like this. But I hate yellow and pink and she's got the milk fangs (the fangs on the early dolls that look like they're dribbling milk instead of proper fangs) and I just... meh. It might be a combo of the promo being meh and the doll I wound up with being meh, but in any case she is my textbook meh. (Say meh again, self.)
Fearleading Draculaura. I like the effort at different pigtails. I just... I bought this set because they were all different and mostly I just use Ghoulia from it. *shrug* There's nothing super exciting about this version, for me.
Coffin Bean Draculaura. I remember being so freakin' cheesed off when they pulled the promo switch on this. The promo had the more interesting outfit and in reality she just looked doofy. The only upgrade was that she went from milk fang to no milk fang. In general, she's not bad, it's just that I can't think of her without remembering the surge of disappointment when she was finally found in the wild. (I still had Cass buy her when she first saw her.)
I Heart Shoes. I got a good deal on mine. I like the shoes. I like they look they were going for. But the weird gloved hands that look like scar tissue, the milk fangs, and the super heavy eye-makeup just conspired to make me a sad panda. Also, pink and yellow. Oh, and the promo was gorgeous so there's a bit of bait and switch going on there, too.
Art Class. Take a shot each time I bitch about pink and yellow. I kinda like the yellow in her hair though, so that's a thing.
Budget Basic: I've seen her a couple of times at Walmart. Both times she was more expensive than the slimlines of whatever else was out. Like, you can't call these 'budget basic' and then cost more than the fancier versions. I get irrationally annoyed. She's pretty enough, but my interest flatlined at the price (maybe it went down?) and the lack of even basic articulation at the shoulders and head.
No:

Beast Bites Cafe: This is the Budget doll dressed in Creepateria's outfit and basically WTF, Mattel? You can't just go tricking people like that, that's how dads get in trouble with the kids. That's how everyone gets in trouble, actually. You think you're getting one thing and then, surprise, you're getting something lesser. Just... no.
Maybe One Day:

Scarnival: I want this one even though I haaaaaaaaaaaate her outfit.
Save Frankie: weird line. Took me forever to realize it was a Walmart only thing. I went in to buy her once and they were out. Since then she only shows up when I don't have the money. Literally, anytime I'm in the Walmart and don't have toy money, she's there. If I do, she's not. I actually like her yellow headband and the blue heart makes her stand out a bit.
Frightfully Tall: I've basically been waiting to see whether Clawdeen or Draculaura hits a price point that makes me pull the trigger first. I like Sig Lala, and FT is basically that, blown up and simplified. But I also like Elissabat and space is an issue so...
Picture Day. I loved the hair. I loved the outfit. But every single doll I saw in person had the worst eye wonk on a non Cleo/Clawdeen I've ever seen. So I never got her. Which is a shame because that hair! And those shoes remind me of MyScene shoes.
Creepateria. The articulated version, though. She's cute, I just... didn't ever buy her. *shrug*
Monster Exchange: If by Maybe you mean YES, then yes. She's one where I don't love the bangs, but I love everything else. I meant to buy her in person but they were rarely in stores and, well... I get distracted online. Woe. I love the pink eyebrows and the pearlized pink shadow she's got going on.
Collector. Facially speaking, she's very... unusual? Those eyes are just huge and it's kinda weird but I love so much. I just... never managed to catch the sales and then didn't want to pay way more than everyone else had to, you know? She gets points for being different, however.
Boo York. Even when marked waaaaaaaaaay down at Target I said no. I wouldn't say no as a gift, btw. I just... I think this is one where there are cute versions and then there's everything else. A quick (and I do mean quick) Google search confirms that there are BYBY Draculauras I'd love. It's just... I never saw any of those in person. Some seem to suffer milk fang and weird eyes and those are the ones that made it here locally. Sigh. Also, while it's actually very accurate to the movie look, I hate the "socked in the eye" kind of shadow this doll tends to sport. It's my least favorite kind of look for Draculaura, in case you wondered.
Budget Sleepover. Cuz... I have a problem when it comes to dolls in pajamas, it appears.
The Ones That Got Away:

Draculocker: Wanted this one so bad. She never appeared online, in store, anywhere for me. So much want, so little have. D: Look, it's really hard to find Draculaura looking different and while I know this is just DotD in a new outfit, I want anyway.
Music Festival. Kmart exclusives are the bane of my existence, really. This one either never appeared at my store (before it closed) or it showed up once and never, ever again. I wasn't super fond of the makeup or Clawd, but that outfit. Sigh.
Not sure if I should put her here or not, but Sweet Screams is one I always meant to get, I just... never did. Every time I went to get her, she was either out of stock or I found someone I wanted more. But I really liked the Sweet Screams line/idea, y'know?

Is that Maul multipack ever going to appear? Because I freakin' want that Draculaura like crazy. She looks so different and so cute and there's so much pink and I neeeeeeeeeeed.
Overall? I have a crapton of Draculauras. I prefer the ones who don't look like they've been slugged in the face but it doesn't mean I'm against the smoky eye. Gloom Beach kind of look? Love it. Picture Day? Hate it. It's a fine line to walk, I guess. I feel bad that all these years I've muttered about Abbey and Lagoona never shaking their looks up, but they do so about as often, if not moreso, than Draculaura does with her makeup. Her hair, however, is another matter entirely.
Let me know if I forgot anyone who isn't from the reboot. I decided to hold off on those for now because honestly, I got tired. Very, very tired. So much pink and black. Just so, so much.
