AG: Nutcracker Collection 2019
Jul. 22nd, 2019 05:27 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
AG is trying something kinda new with their gold and berry memberships. Or maybe it's not new, it's just that this year they don't have a doll to put up for pre-order, so they're either pre-ordering a new outfit collection or part of the collection. The way the fine print is worded, I can't tell if this is all there is to the Nutcracker Collection, or if it's just the start.
Pre-sale of item GDX53 and GJD51 is limited to Gold and Berry Tier members of AG Rewards. Pre-sale is valid from 7/22/2019 - 7/31/2019 or while supplies last; pre-sale quantities are limited. Preordered items will begin shipping on or around 8/16/2019 and shipping info will be sent to the customer email provided to American Girl at checkout. Must be a Gold or Berry Tier AG Rewards member by 7/19/2019 to be eligible. No coupons, including AG Rewards certificates, or other promotions are valid toward the purchase of these items. Cannot be combined with other offers. Offer valid for online and phone orders only; cannot be redeemed at American Girl® retail stores. Limit of 3 per item per order.
Part of the Truly Me™ Nutcracker Collection.
See?
But let's be honest, you're here for the actual pictures/info, right?

Nutcracker Prince and Clara Outfit Set // $75
Item#GJD51
Dolls can play out the timeless and magical story of The Nutcracker with this limited-edition Nutcracker Prince and Clara outfit set! It includes:
A beautiful Clara-inspired foil-print white cotton nightgown, with soft blue satin trim at the neckline and a matching ribbon bow at the waist, plus delicate lace trim on the dress sleeves and hem
A blue satin-covered headband and fancy ballet slippers with elastic straps
A red velvet hat with gold trim and embroidery and a black faux-leather bill
A red velvet jacket fit for a prince, with shiny faux-leather collar, cuffs, and belt with metal buckle; golden fringe at the shoulders; and golden embroidery details
Two illustrated limited-edition cards with Clara and the Nutcracker Prince’s stories on the back
A doll-sized nutcracker replica whose mouth really opens and closes
Part of the Truly Me™ Nutcracker Collection. No more than 5,000 created worldwide.
So uh, this is happening. I wish this didn't happen to be a set because I'd buy the hell out of the Clara outfit, but I just... eh about the Nutcracker Prince. Like I could definitely find uses for the boots and probably the tights/pants but the rest? Not really. And it's $75 which is ouch. I do wonder if his jacket is going to shed as bad as some of their past outfits.

Nutcracker Snow Queen Outfit // $50
Item#GDX53
This dazzling limited-edition ballet outfit is inspired by the magical story of the Snow Queen in The Nutcracker. It includes:
A white velveteen leotard with silver sparkle trim, shining sequins and bright rhinestones on a felt snowflake to catch the light, and silver sparkle straps with glittery off-the-shoulder tulle sleeves
A tutu with sparkling elastic waistband, rhinestones in the shape of snowflakes, and four layers of glittery and solid tulle
An elegant faceted metal tiara and metal snowflake wand with shining rhinestones, fit for a queen
Silver foil-print ballet slippers with ribbon ties and a pair of soft-white knit tights
An illustrated limited-edition collectible card with the Snow Queen’s story
Part of the Truly Me™ Nutcracker Collection. No more than 10,000 created worldwide.
So I might have a weakness for AG ballet stuff, but mostly that weakness is only activated when it goes on sale. Not up for sale, but on sale. At a discount. And this outfit is lovely, but it's not really screaming $50 worth of lovely. Though it does claim the tiara is metal, much as it might look like plastic to my sleep-deprived eyes.
Not really sure how I feel about these, honestly. If they were cheaper as a pre-order than they'd be once they were released, I might've bitten. But they aren't and the one outfit I desperately want is bundled with an outfit I really don't care about.
Decisions. Thoughts? Opinions? Anyone else imagining Jessi or the twins circa SVT losing their minds one way or another about these? Just me? Okay.
eta: Replied on one of the boards and literally never had quite so many people suggest I buy something before. And not in that "you might regret it if you don't!" way that happens a lot with AG, but so that they could buy the Prince outfit from me if I did. Gracious.
