Diwali Celebration Outfit // $45
Item#HBX14
Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, and Sikhs celebrate this five-day holiday, also known as Festival of Lights, by lighting lamps called diyas, gathering with loved ones, and visiting temples to pray. The celebration set includes:
A colorful brocade choli top
A floor-length brocade lehenga skirt
A bright pink mesh dupatta, or shawl, with embroidered gold trim on one edge
A bindi sticker card that includes stick-on earrings
A gold choker-style necklace
Two pink beaded bracelets on elastic
A pair of strappy gold sandals
A doll-sized diya with gold plating
A booklet that highlights five different cultural celebrations

Sweet mother of pearl, this is gorgeous. It's also the most expensive of the offerings, I believe, but it's one where I can see where the money went. I'm not going to try and convince people that yes, doll clothes should be $45, but for AG and what they're offering? I get it. And it's lovely and I want it.

Lunar New Year's Celebration Outfit // $36
Item#HBX12
Lunar New Year is a Chinese and East Asian celebration signaling the start of the new year according to the lunar calendar. People around the world celebrate it by wearing the color red, which symbolizes joy and good fortune, and by attending dances, parades, and family gatherings. This celebration set includes:
A red Mandarin-collar dress with frog closures, a full mesh skirt, and gold embroidery on the bodice and skirt
A red bow barrette
A pair of gold glitter ballet-flat shoes with an ankle strap
A red hóngbao envelope that holds five pretend $1 bills
A booklet that highlights five different cultural celebrations

In any other year, this would've jumped into my bag already. As it is, I'm fence sitting only because I can literally only afford so much. I wish Ivy were still around so they could do a then/now perspective and not have to deal with people rightly pointing out that Ivy really got the short end of the stick. Alas. I do wonder how red this is as it reads VERY pinkish red and that's my only real qualm with it. I prefer my reds to be, y'know, RED. Okay, I lied. The really cheap barette is my other issue. :p But the dress is lovely and I wants it.

Eid Al-Fitr Celebration Outfit // $36
Item#HBX15
This Muslim holiday, meaning Festival of Breaking Fast in Arabic, comes at the end of Ramadan, a holy month of prayer and fasting. It's a joyous time for families to give gifts, especially to those in need. The celebration set includes:
A long-sleeved turquoise abaya dress with embroidery at the bodice and sleeves
A one-piece pink hijab with rhinestones on the front
A pair of blue cotton jersey leggings to wear under the abaya
A pair of gold sandals with elastic at the heels
Two beaded gold bracelets on elastic
A gold envelope that holds five pretend $1 bills
A booklet that highlights five different cultural celebrations

They're just going to include the same booklet with each outfit, aren't they? Sorry, you get thoughts as I have them. Anyway, dig this and if you're going for outfit most out of AG's comfort zone, this is probably it. Like the Lunar New Year outfit, my only real issue is that I am poor. :P I'm not really sure I have a doll to wear this but I do think it's lovely and I'm glad they made it.

Hanukkah Celebration Outfit // $36
Item#HBX13
During this eight-day Jewish holiday, also called Feast of Dedication or Festival of Lights, families light a new candle each night on a special lampstand called a menorah and celebrate with food, games, and fun. The celebration set includes:
A navy velvet dress with a silver satin ribbon and bow and glitter sparkle on the hem
A silver Star of David necklace charm on a silver chain
A glittery navy headband with a silver satin bow
A pair of silver glitter shoes
A booklet that highlights five different cultural celebrations

This is absolutely the most basic of the dresses released today but blue and silver will remain one of my (many) weaknesses so uh, here we are with it sitting in my cart. I do love me a good velvet dress and I like that they included the Star of David necklace. The shoes are basic but given how bad AG's shoe game has been lately, maybe that's not the worst thing ever. Ditto for the hairband.

Kwanzaa Celebration Outfit // $36
Item#HBX16
Kwanzaa is a seven-day celebration of African and African American culture, where families light a candle on the kinara (candle holder) each night and may enjoy food, song, dance, and other activities. The celebration set includes:
A colorful printed cotton broadcloth top with a surplice neckline
A colorful printed cotton broadcloth maxi skirt with an elastic waistband
A pair of black strappy sandals
A printed cotton broadcloth headband with a knotted front square that matches the skirt
A beaded bracelet on a black cord with seven beads that mimic the kinara candles
A black plastic kinara with painted details that holds seven candles
A set of seven candles: three red, one black, and three green
A unity cup for everyone to sip from
A woven mkeka mat, one of the seven symbols of Kwanzaa
A booklet that highlights five different cultural celebrations

Dang, this one gets you the most bang for your buck. So many accessories! But also, damn, COVID has ruined the idea of "cup for everyone to sip from." To be fair, this is not a thing I've ever been down with in any religion or form. *twitch* I'd say I'm surprised it's taken this long for AG to make another Kwanzaa outfit but uh, I'm not really. I do hope it sells well and that they either bring these back or do new versions more often because dude. This whole collection? ♥ I love it when AG tries to teach people about things they're unfamiliar with or might be. But also I do love some tiny little dolly goodies and this doll is pretty.

Pretty Plaid Christmas Dress // $36
Item#HBX11
Christmas Day is a Christian holiday that honors the birth of Jesus. Families and friends around the world may celebrate by attending church, giving gifts, decorating, and hosting special gatherings. This celebration dress includes:
A sleeveless plaid dress with a shimmer of gold woven throughout. It has a mock neck, a full pleated skirt, a velvet ribbon waistband with a bow.
A golden headband that sparkles with rhinestones in the shape of a tiara
A navy patent wristlet purse with a plaid lining, an elastic wrist strap, and a ribbon on the front
A pair of navy patent boots with velvet ribbon and bows at the ankles

The exact moment I knew they'd be releasing the other outfits as part of a holiday line was when I read the description for this outfit, which went up last week, I believe. I can't swear to it, but I don't think AG's ever really spelled out the Christian holiday bit before and I don't know why I howled with laughter, but I did. Perhaps due to lack of sleep. Probably, if we're being honest. Anyway. This outfit is definitely unusual for AG's Christmas dress offerings. They don't normally do plaid never like this for holiday. I dig it, but I don't fully love the boots/bare legs thing. I don't think I'd mind as mich without the ribbon around the boots. For some reason that makes me want leggings or tights or something, and you'll remember I live in Satan's armpit so it's not like it's cold here for Christmas. I think the Tiara is kinda dumb but pretty. It's like they realized nothing about this said Christmas so they threw in a tiara and called it a day. Annnnnnnnnnnd before you say anything, yes. I had a plaid Christmas dress one year. But it wasn't quite like this. Also, the 80's so, yeah.

Bitty and the Wellies have versions, too. BB is $30 and WW is $24. I think I prefer these two, honestly. Curse you, crappy WW shoes.

A Dozen Delicious Days Countdown Set // $50

A half apron with a colorful cookie print, an embroidered front pocket, and a red ruffle at the bottom
A set of four measuring cups for baking goodies
A red mixing bowl with an American Girl® logo
A pink and blue whisk for mixing ingredients

A cookie cutter set that includes a snowman, an ornament, and a star
A silver sheet pan that holds all three cookies

Three pretend cookies with colorful icing details: a snowman cookie, an ornament cookie, and a star cookie
A festive holiday plate that fits three cookies to leave for Santa or share with a friend
A pretend glass of milk with a snowflake print and a red straw
A thank-you note for Santa

If I were made of money, I'd buy this in a heartbeat. A) they didn't call it an advent calendar. B) it's cute as hell. C) There's a THEME. Fuck yes. I know every other year they say there's a theme but this one fully commits and I appreciate that.

AG 2021 Winter Princess Doll // $250
Item#HBX21
The holidays are extra special this year with the premiere of the American Girl Collector Series that includes this limited-edition doll:
An 18-inch doll with brown eyes, black hair with auburn highlights, and glitter eye shadow
A pink satin tulle dress with real Swarovski crystals on the bodice and top skirt
A pair of sparkly ballet flat shoes with glitter accents
A pair of gloves
A necklace with a teardrop Swarovski crystal
A pair of Swarovski crystal stud earrings
A sphere-shaped glitter purse with a rose gold metal chain
A rose gold metal tiara with authentic Swarovski crystals
A numbered certificate
Cannot be shipped outside the U.S. or Canada.

Soooooo glad I gave up my idea of having one of each Sonali mold dolls. Also, apparently the pics lie as this particular version has really dark hair (the description now says black but I'm not sure it did for the initial release) and people are ticked because what they thought they ordered and what they're getting are not the same. I'm torn as everyone always said that this one would have basically Ruthie/Jess's hair and that's always been very dark, but the pictures here are definitely not that. But the actual photos don't show the R/J color either, as that was dark but always easy enough to see the red highlights. So... it's a bit of a mess. But I'm not out here blowing $250 on one AG doll so there you are.

AG 2021 Winter Princess Doll // $250
Item#HBX19
The holidays are extra special this year with the premiere of the American Girl Collector Series that includes this limited-edition doll:
An 18-inch doll with green eyes, long blond hair with pink highlights, and glitter eye shadow
A pink satin tulle dress with real Swarovski crystals on the bodice and top skirt
A pair of sparkly ballet flat shoes with glitter accents
A pair of long pink gloves
A necklace with a teardrop Swarovski crystal
A pair of Swarovski crystal stud earrings
A sphere-shaped glitter purse with a rose gold metal chain
A rose gold metal tiara with authentic Swarovski crystals
A numbered certificate
Cannot be shipped outside the U.S. or Canada.

Based entirely on these photos, I'd want this one if I were rolling in dough. But I'm not and I've seen pics of the actual doll and she looks beyond washed out and it's just... why. AG, figure out your face painting game because it's either really orange or washed out and it didn't used to be. I like the pink highlights, I like the use of the green eyes. I wish both had the pink glitter eyeshadow. But I was far more tempted by the Sugarplum Fairy last year.

Hearts and Pines Holiday PJs // $24
Item#HBX07
Christmas Eve just got cuddlier with this festive tree-and-heart-print union suit that has a contrasting red neckline, placket, and cuffs—plus a pom-pom on the toes. A cheery red Santa-style hat with white faux-fur trim and a pom-pom makes the ho-ho-holiday complete.

  Thanks, I hate it.

image host image host
Hate the BB and WW versions, too. I'm picky on my greens and reds and I don't love the lighter green being used. I could make overlook it but the union jack suit and the booties with the poms are going to make this a PITA to put on. I do love the name though.

I love this. I don't know why, but I do. I'm not going to sit here and pick it apart because I will not be spending damn near $300 on it, but my god, they really did try to include a LOT of stuff. I'm dying at the cream cheese container (not the contents) looking like a Vaseline tub. I really love the mugs and plates and basically yes, this is expensive as hell but I looooooove it. And now I want coffee.

AG x Carly Cushnie Collector Tote Bag // $30
Item#HJX27
Fashion designer Carly Cushnie gave our original historical characters—Josefina, Samantha, Kirsten, Molly, Felicity, and Addy—a contemporary update on this collector tote. Their new 'dos and fabulous outfits give them a totally modern feel. Made of recycled cotton canvas, this tote is just the right size to carry to school or a sleepover.

I'd buy it on sale, but for $30 I wouldn't want to use it and mess up the art. So I shall just appreciate said art.

There are a couple of other new things I'm too lazy to go into because eh. There's a terrifying BB "Cozy Cub" outfit that's basically a cute but basic dress with a bear hat. New wheelchair. New BB Washer/dryer set. New Stronger In Colour t-shirt that's a collab with Prabal Gurung. Might've missed something else but I think I got the 18inch stuff anyway.

People have mentioned the new shop pay thing is borked. Anyone used it lately?

I used ShopPay for Maritza and it worked fine. Split it into 4 payments. Though I'm very sad they took regular Affirm away because I loved those 12 payments.
