impyHappy February? This is basically going to be a grab bag of assorted weirdness that's been going on in my little corner of the universe for awhile so ...hi.
First up, complete fluff in the form of AG's site apparently changed a bit over the last week or so. I gather they've been tweaking things so that maybe you can use your rewards online again (but no promises as I haven't tried) and the CYO generator has also had some changes. Some I knew about and just don't think I passed along, like nearly all of the wig options with bangs have been gone for quite some time. :( Basically if you want bangs, you gotta get the pixie wig. They also semi-recently yanked the light red as an option for any wig (whyyyyy) and that one I think I knew about but couldn't give a time frame on it. I did not know they'd yoinked the dark blue eyes, though, and that one ticks me off as they're gorgeous and unlike the light blue option, don't tend to vary greatly. Rude.
They also changed how they have you choose skin color and face shape, which is not as helpful as you'd think. It took us EONS to figure out which skin tone was which and I think we'd finally sussed out which medium skintone was the new one and which one was the original medium and now we have to do all that work again? Also, um, I don't really recall any of AG's skintones as being particularly olive?
But mostly I've kept these in my pocket because I am STILL tickled by the fact that they consider the Jess mold the heart shaped mold when that is how they marketed the MG mold to begin with. Like I don't think they ever called it the MG mold even though every other mold was referred to by the first doll to use it, aside from classic. Then again, less so in marketing maybe but still. You have a heart shaped mold and Jess ain't it! Sigh. Still have the worst pictures used for the molds. AG. Honey. If you're going to make CYOs non-returnable, you gotta have better graphics so people can properly see what they're going to be getting. At this point I'd imagine there aren't that many versions that haven't truly been made aside from the heterochromia options. The ones that haven't been physically made? Should be easy enough for anyone competent in photoshop, dude. Seriously.
Anyway. Let's see.
I told myself I would try and get pictures of most of my polishes I use, at least on the left hand. So prepare yourself for shitty pictures. Sorry.
Bee's Knee's Lacquer in Solstice Gift and Sally Hansen Color Foil in Vio-Lit on the pinky. I really, really loved Solstice more than I truly anticipated. It's a purple base with silver flakies and apparently I am getting over my aversion to flakies because this one is damn stunning. It's hard to capture just how chromatic this one is in action. Very blingy, very pretty, and it wore for ages. The Color Foil is very similar to how I remember them being back when they came out again about ten years ago, which isn't quite as chromatic as the 90's/00's version, but that could also be nostalgia. A+, will wear again for both.
Wildflower Lacquer in Queen Frostine. I mean that name alone meant I was probably going to get it. This one is weird because in the bottle and on a lot of swatches, it looks decidedly blue to me. I got it in and Cass was over and she commented on how many green polishes I got and it was literally this one, the BKL in a similar color (but shimmer, not flakies) and maybe an actual green-green. So I was very confused. Until I put it on and it definitely leaned more on the greenish side. It's pretty and the purple/pink definitely comes through, but I don't get Frostine vibes on me. In my head she's more blue. I should probably look to see how accurate that is but also no, I'm running late as it is.
Fancy Gloss in Never Sleep Again, which is a thermal that shifts from a 'clear' (very light pink on me) when warm to black with red flakies when cold, and it's basically supposed to kind of give a blood splatter look and yes, it absolutely does. Took these when standing by the door when it was supposed to ice over and was very cold so just being by the door kicked off the color shift. Thermals are so much fun but I have so many polishes that I worry about not getting to actually wear them before they croak. Love this one, too.

Holo Taco One Coat Black under Wet n Wild's Fergie line in Make Them Boys Go Loco was found when I was looking for my old Caboodle (did not find) and old jane Cosmetics booklets and immediately I knew I had to wear it. ♥ I did wear it on its own on my right thumb but it looks 100% better over black and OCB was the closest black I had on hand. Two coats for extra glitter.
So that was basically January on my left hand. Right hand wears more colors because I'm right handed and stuff chips like crazy on that hand, especially when work goes off the rails. Speaking of which...
Did I mention that my first night last week ended with my coworker leaving earlier than normal (basically when I left) because she tested positive for Covid? If not, that's how my week began. So I spent the week working with my store manager until Saturday when I got to work with one of the newer SFLs who didn't mind switching with me so I was out on the floor while she was ringing people up. Sort of. It was super cold (for us) so after midnight we didn't really have a ton of customers.
Anyway, it was great fun watching people spend the week wiping down everything I touched as soon as they came on shift because they were/are afraid I'm also going to come down with COVID.
Since I wasn't sure if my various aches, pains, and icks were due to allergies, weather, period, or COVID, I broke down and used one of my rapid tests last night. Assuming it's accurate, I'm good. Huzzah!
Oh, they're painting the outside of the townhouses this week. Mom's already miffed them by asking, quite rightly, if they were going to paint over the dirt they blew all over the place when they "powerwashed" early. I think she just asked about the painting over and left out the rest, but you guys haven't seen the dirt so, y'know, backstory. Annnnnnnnd so the dude who had her move her car (after moving other people's for them if they wanted) swept off the dirt she showed him, badly, and asked if she was happy. When retelling this for me, I asked if she told him no. She did, in fact, tell him no. :P That's my mama.
Oh, and this Friday we're supposed to finally be getting a new fridge. Which we've kind of needed since we moved in, and definitely for the last couple of years. I'm not sure how I feel about it being not a side-by-side deal but it'll be nice not to basically have to hip check the damn thing every time I walk by. Maybe.
Corinne might be here today but I'm not sure how the painting is going to affect that. *muse*
