impyI don't understand the CB wishlist email thing. I signaled interest in three or four (which they confirmed) and they've alerted me precisely ONCE. Annnnnd three of those four all arrived at nearly the same time so I'm fucked right over, but it would've been nice to actually have been able to make an informed choice about which of those three I wanted to prioritize, y'know?
Don't mind me, I'm just sulking because my period and shoulder have decided to team up and try to make me MISERABLE. It might be working.
Went out with a friend yesterday which was nice. Went to breakfast at a place I'd never heard of before but will have to take Mums to and then to Barnes and Noble to return a book she ordered online that arrived fucked up. We browsed for quite awhile but other than adding a ton of things to my Ooh, Shiny! pile, I didn't buy anything.
Possibly because I spent my last few bucks on some ~art~ by Mike Maihack and I'd meant to mention that before the LE stuff disappeared but again, period + shoulder pain = useless me.
Both of the prints I snagged were part of the limited time offer but let's see...
You Get A Lifetime and Super Moon. Had I the funds, I'd have grabbed one of the Storm prints and maybe something else.
Watched The Sandman which was an interesting ride. I don't think it lived up to the absolutely insane hype people managed to build around it in such a short time but it was still very good and nearly perfectly cast. Possibly entirely perfectly cast but after awhile Dream's bird mouth got to me so, y'know, there's that. But despite not remembering absolutely everything I read eons ago, I still remembered enough to have some moments echo enough that if you told me younger!me was glimpsing them and losing her mind, I'd believe you. I absolutely need a second season and look, if you want to give Death her spin off, I'm ready and waiting to watch.
Now to try and figure out when I took my last pain pill and whether or not it's time for another one.

If you're interested in Shortcake, my advice would be to go for her. She'll be the one most likely to sell out. I still haven't decided if I'm getting her or not, but I probably will. I haven't seen Valerie posting anything about arrivals.

Date: 2022-08-17 03:43 am (UTC)Gwendoline Christie is my main draw. I'd be interested to see her in that role. But Dream's actor...uggghhh. Does he sparkle? Or is he The Night? Or does he sparkle while he's The Night? And I just can't with the Death casting. There have been a lot of racists not into it, which of course is wrong, but I don't like it because that should have been a Cinamon tribute. I will always hate how Cinamon was the inspiration for Death and they never compensated her for it. She didn't even know until a couple years later. She struggled through life and had to raise money twice for cancer treatments. Someone who made money off her likeness could have helped. And it would have been lovely if they cast a skilled actress that also bore a resemblance to her as a tribute to her inspiration. But no. Everyone just pretends it's brilliant casting and no one cares about the woman who really was Death.
I might watch it. I need to get Netflix for Winx Season 2, so I should try to get my money's worth and finally finish She-Ra and Derry Girls. I could watch this, too. We'll see.

Gwendoline Christie is clearly having a blast when she shows up but she's not in it a ton. If nothing else the itty bitty gargoyle is worth a watch.
