Yesterday the contractor for the HOA came by to look at my balcony that's been looking rough since *checks notes* September. But yesterday morning it was also POURING for maybe half an hour or so and I heard something strange, like water inside. Yes indeedy, the front door has a leak from the roof above it. Luckily, that's something also covered by the HOA, so I fired off an email to the management company and he added it to the contractor's list of things to check. Not super looking forward to the balcony work as that'll literally be right outside my room (ugh!) but I would like having use of my balcony at some point. He said that they'd be building the wall with a gap at the bottom so the leaves could be more easily swept off the balcony which is nice, because as it is, it involves me having to peer over the side to make sure no one's down there, and then scoop up armfulls of leaves and stuff. Or, y'know, use a dustpan to do the same thing. He also confirmed my thought that the floor was solid, so I don't have to worry as much about that, assuming they fix it sooner rather than later.

Since I mentioned the room, let's look at the chaos that is my ongoing room revamp as I have a thought pinging in my brain but I need to work it out.

This was the area across from my bed before I started all t his. I have two closets, or rather one closet with two sets of doors. There's a mountain of plush/dolls in front of one of the doors, as they sit on my hope chest. Ooh. Ahh. If we'd moved a little more to the left, you'd run out of closet and we'd hit my vanity/bathroom area. You don't need to see that.

To the right and you have more stuff. The red curtains are where the balcony sliding glass door area starts, so you can see there's not really a lot of wall space there. It's why I went with the floating shelves before.

The wall my bed was on. You'll notice it sandwiched between two bookcases and pressed up along the wall, which until this revamp was how I've had my bed pretty much ever since I had input into how my bed would be placed in my room. I'm so sorry I didn't make my bed before this, or get a better shot but you get the idea.

As a reminder, that fourth wall you don't see has my nail polish storage in the corner with the black bookcase, then the door to the hallway, then a bookcase of dolls, then the door to the vanity.

After clearing away a lot of the stuff in front, you can actually see the hope chest and other things. Ooh, ahhhh. If I could time travel, I'd just go ahead and assemble the bookcases here and then put them in the hall, keeping my bed where it was at the time and just saying fuck it to the plan. But, well, I didn't know then what I know now so...

Loki probably tried to tell me, but I was just so dazzled by the floof. THE FLOOF.

I hauled my bed out of the way. Holy fuckballs did I fail to account for the fact that this bed is metal and not metal and wood, in addition to it not being a twin anymore. Adora decided to investigate. This is obviously as I started to set up to make my new bookcases. Ooh. Ahh.

This was after I made one. I really should've just made them and then moved the bed because there was more space before, but I guess this way I didn't have to worry about hitting the fan blades as I remember the two wider bookcases had those issues.

This was about where I left it for the next couple of weeks. I thought I had pics of when I actually did stop, so lest you fear for me, I did have heavier stuff at the bottom of the one bookcase so it wasn't wibbly wobbly.

I futzed a little with the one on the left this weekend, adding more books to it because it's the more wobbly of the two (if you're trying to make it wobble, that is). I also included the pile of AG stuff so you can see what I'm left with to ponder. I'm half tempted to move the bookcases where the AG makeshift thing is, and put them in the corner near the Bisley.

My bed is now in front of the hope chest and I actually like how it feels, even if I don't love the look of it. It's hard to explain. It's easier to put things away and sort through things. Like you can't tell, but I went through the stuff by the balcony door (the side that doesn't open) and got rid of a bunch of things that were destined for trash or recycling, and then I could move the books or my mini Squishmallows over. So for now, it works pretty well as a way to facilitate me working on the rest of the room when I have time. It's very much a work in progress that isn't super beautiful yet, but has bits that make me very happy.

It also makes Daredevil happy as he squishes poor Mr. Brown (the bear). Bonus: the bear behind/next to AG Makena is my Teddy bear. The yellow blob to Makena's right? Is Edward, and he's older than I am as he belonged to my aunt who passed away before my parents got married.

Some people are minimalists. I... clearly am not.
