Lauren Graham? Ever so cool.
Sep. 24th, 2003 12:41 amSo, with my Ben & Jerry's at the ready, I watched the season premiere of Gilmore Girls. And you know what? I'd forgotten what it was like to just honestly love a show. I mean, I loved Buffy, but I hated the way certain characters were treated and the whole lack of Tara thing. I love Charmed, but I hate Kern [and it's amusing] and Milano is detracting from the show to the point that I can't even fully enjoy older episodes where she doesn't suck so much.
GG just had one problem that kept me at bay for most of S3, Jess. And Jess is gone for the most part. I don't know if he comes back, and I don't really care. It didn't impact my love of this episode.
I know it's not the best they've ever done, but I was thoroughly entertained. Lauren Graham so deserves an Emmy, because she's amazing. She's also easy on the eyes, and got prettier over the summer. Alexis is cute and I was worried that by year 4 she'd be pulling the Dawson's Creek/90210 "I'm too good for this now, but I can't drop it due to contracts and fans" attitude that so many younger stars develop. If she has, I haven't noticed it in Rory. :D
Sookie & Jackson are adorable. Kirk needs a haircut, but I laughed out loud silly at the end with his scene. Emily and Richard are woo and hoo fantastic, even when Emily is being insane. I love Luke and I wasn't as ... sad at his announcement as I thought I'd be. Maybe it was the nonstop WB radio promos [that I never did manage to tape. sigh.] with that line played over and over. Maybe it was the knowledge of his final bombshell for the episode. Who knows. Doesn't mean I'm any less a Java Junkie.
I laughed, I sniffled, and I marveled at the cast chemistry [in a non kinky way, kay?]. Plus it doesn't hurt that mother/daughter bonding also occurs when I watch. [Yes, I watch with my mother.] I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season. :D May the gods keep GG safe from the S4 curse.
In other news, watched SVU. Good stuff. Hypocrite fiance, but it happens. Wasn't my favorite episode, but good enough to make me switch back from Charmed on TNT and ponder this new season.
