April Fools fun
Apr. 1st, 2006 07:13 amIf you're a) from around here or b) friends with someone else from here, then you will not be as entertained by this as I am. Alas, sucks to be you, doesn't it?
Last night one of the water mains for the lowcountry area went kerfluey. As in a geyser. As in no water for most of Charleston county. Which meant that the island, West Ashley, and the historic district went nuts. They sat and watched the geyser on Turkey Creek. o_O
And by nuts, I mean they went out to Walgreens and bought as much water as was humanly possible to push around in carts and then cop an attitude when the line grew to be really long because 900000000000000000000000 other people also decided to do the same damn thing. I lost count of how many 15 packs of water I had to lift and move around and scan. I just know that from 10-12, I thought it was hurricane season.
The real kicker? Today is the Bridge Run & Walk, so for awhile it looked like it was entirely possible you'd have a city filled with runners from around the globe [no. seriously.] who would get all hot and sweaty and generally icky, but no water for them to drink without horrid price gouging on bottles, and no water to bathe in.
Heh. Heh. Heh. The water's back, but don't drink it. Woe.
But I can shower without trying to figure out how exactly to best use the tiny bottles of doom. Yay?
My toe hurts. And I bought myself a hallmark bunny that says, "some bunny loves you" and wags its tail. Because all attempts to get someone else to buy it for me failed. So it's mine. It's very cute and I shall love it muchly, but sometimes it sucks when you realize you're the only buying all the gifts. :/
