Cranky old lady
Jun. 7th, 2007 11:59 amOne more thing I could live without ever happening again: Turning on the AC up here and having it make this weird squick! sound and then something sort of flies and falls through the slats. [It's a window unit with obvious ties to the icky things outside.] Ew.
Onward to less icky squicky things. Anyone else take part in those summer reading programs? I know I'm not the only dork out there. I remember that sometimes, if you were lucky and the library was feeling particularly loaded that year, you'd get pizza and a small gift certificate somewhere, usually a bookstore, if you won whatever their fantabulous prize at the end of the summer was. But usually that was about as nifty as it got, or at least I never remembered any really, really good prizes. Maybe tickets to a movie or something. Needless to say, I never won anything but that certificate at the end, and whatever anyone who read a certain number of books got as their default "yay for you!" prize.
I've officially reached old status. Why? Because the kids who take part in this year's summer reading program have all this to look forward to : ( Envy? )
...The hell? I understand the movies, the water park, and even the party bit. Again, more expensive versions of what they used to give out. But a digital camera and an iPod? The hell?
Aw, hell. I can't remember why I just opened iTunes. I remember wanting to look for something but... I don't remember what that is right now.
Minutes tick by and I still don't remember what the hell I was going to do. This is indescribably annoying. I hope it wasn't anything too important.
