impy: tori from jackie's strength video (snuggle)
So, I go back to work Tuesday. Which is today, but if I say Tuesday, I can lie to myself a little longer and say my vacation isn't over. Which it's not. If it were, I'd be at work riiiiiiiiiight now. And I'm not. So it's not over. See how these things work?

Anyway. You'd think after nine days I'd be bored out of my skull and at least want to go back so I could buy myself a pretty magazine. Nope, I'm good. I'd probably die of boredom in the next couple of weeks, but for now? Not a problem. Which is a little odd, as the other times I've gone on vacation, I've a) never taken so long off and b) by day five, I was always ready to go back. Perhaps it's the robberies, perhaps it's just burnout, or maybe it's something else entirely. The other odd thing is that I fully expected to go back to what used to be my normal sleep schedule, namely either waking up in late afternoon/early evening and passing out at dawn, or waking up around 2AM and passing out around dinner time. Didn't happen. Weird.

It was fun, loafing around the house, doing very little unless I wanted to, and watching obscene amounts of random ANTM mini-marathons on MTV. It's a little odd, considering I won't watch them when they first air, but shove 'em all in a row and I'm so there. Granted, I tend to sit there at least twice a season and think, "Wait, her? You think that's gorgeous? Seriously?" It's actually a little higher, but I since I can't think of any examples, we'll leave it at twice a season. Of course, I'd probably have either watched a little more if Mother Nature hadn't sent her army of annoying "holy shit!" weather messages of doom. Y'know, when you're watching TV and suddenly the screen flashes red and this scary as hell sound drowns out everything but your heartbeat, and you suddenly think we're all gonna die, only to find out that yeah, there's a tornado out there somewhere, or because it's raining and high tide, you really should avoid downtown. They started last Wednesday and continued on throughout the rest of the week. Naturally we ended up with the tornado one first, and since I'm not too fond of the idea of them, I tend to freak the hell out just a little. It didn't help that by the time it was 6:30, the sky was darker than it normally is come 9PM. :P Scawwie.

Moving along, thankyouthankyouthankyouthaaaaaaaaaaaaankyou, Al/[livejournal.com profile] agent_alpo! *hugs* Yay for Tori-goodness! :D I had to hunt down my mailman, only to find out it wasn't him but some chick, and then I had to hunt down my mail from her. Seems Mr. Mailman is willing to hoof it up to the porch [our mailbox croaked during one of the storms and while they've put up a new post, the actual box isn't up on 'em yet for whatever reason. It is, however, sitting on the front porch, waving hello, what with it's little red flag that says, "hey, important mail here!" but she gave me attitude. "You need to put the mailbox on the post." Yeah, well, you need to give me my mail, dontcha? I might have been nicer or bitchier had I not been frickin' walking on gravel in bare feet.

But Tori goodness! Thank youuuuuuuuu! :D

And to round out my vacation, I saw Pan's Labyrinth yesterday. I liked it, and I think I'd have loved it if everyone and their hamster hadn't been telling me to see it without mentioning the fact that the fairytale aspect takes a decided backseat to the horrors going on in her 'real' life. Which works, no denying that, but everything focused on the Princess part, not the, "hey, life sucks horribly" part. Which, I suppose, should have told me that they were focusing on the smaller portion of the movie. Though I guess it wasn't actually. It was a beautiful movie and creepier than most horror films will ever hope to be.
