books and bloo
Jan. 12th, 2008 10:43 amSo, assuming I don't get screwed over or that I haven't missed something the last nine billion times I've made lists and checked them more than twice, I accomplished my goal for the year yesterday.
By accident no less.
You see, there I was, eying this lot of 106 books on ebay, biding my time until the bidding frenzy was to begin. Now, I know it's rude to sit there and stare, but I've seen how ugly these things can get and I wanted to avoid triggering the insanity too early. If I weren't mostly positive I still had a cable bill to pay, as well as late gifts for some people, I would have gone a little higher than I did, cuz, hello, a hundred and six. However, I think I already owned about a hundred of them, so, uh, it was all for the glory, not so much the end product. While I was busy letting that one go [and not even to the person who kept trying, and failing, to outbid me!] I snagged another lot of about thirty for ten bucks. Thus, when it arrives, I should have completed my SVH:SY collection. Score? Of course, since there aren't that many books in the series [48, I think] this also means quite a few duplicates. Which means if you're a SV type and you've got holes in your collection, you should probably begin hinting now. Otherwise, well, this is the one series that most of the second hand stores will actually take most of the books, no questions asked.
I'd be more excited but I have a smidge of a headache going on [ponytail=pain] and also, while I've grown accustomed to Senior Year, I'm not able to think of it without wanting to scream or spit in disgust for various aspects of the series. [Namely Liz. Good freakin' god, what the hell?]
La. I think it's a sign of complete dorkishness that I want a laptop simply so I can sit in my room or the hall outside my room and add my books to LibraryThing. I can't think of too many other reasons I would want one, yet I keep eying them as if I were seriously going to buy one come tax time. My brain is actually trying to allocate funds for this despite the fact that I'm only still online at the moment [and thus in front of the computer] because I'm doing laundry and if I go to my room, I'll forget all about it. I love Kid Sister, but lately I'm bored by the world, so it would make no sense at all to drop that kind of cash on a laptop when I'd be much happier buying... I dunno, anything else?
So, until the boy goes away for an extended period of time [thus enabling me to cut through his room to the hallway without having to go down and up two flights of stairs, not to mention going all the way across the house] my poor librarything will just be mostly empty.
But let's focus on something far more important, shall we?
My Foster's DVDs came in the mail yesterday. :D
In your head, the little cartoon me [or however you think of me, and admit it, you do think of me] should be bouncing around the room. Which is why I said cartoon me, as that's the best way to capture the feeling.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a date with insanity.
