annoyance and amusement
Sep. 12th, 2008 09:43 amWell, my headache moved to the back of my head. Yay progress. It intensified when I flipped through my TV Guide that came yesterday. I've avoided the Twilight mocking because I love the first despite the flaws, and I love Jacob and Alice in the following two books [couldn't tell you about book four, haven't read it yet] and I don't mock the fans because, well, actually, I provoke them with my "But whyyyyyyyyyyyy? Edward is boring! Jacob's all warm and cuddly and clearly insane" thoughts. But sweet baby boy who lived, TV Guide has gone to the shitter. The first letter, in big, bold font, is about the apparent similarities between True Blood [the TV series based off of Charlaine Harris's novels] and Twilight. Without a single TV Guide staffer with the balls to point out that Ch's stuff came first... Or that the idea of a vampire/humanish pairing isn't exactly new ground. No, we couldn't have reason in our stupid trash heap. We had to just be idiots.
G'ah, my head hurts, and it's only partly due to idiots. Meh.
Two more nights of work. [/mantra] Then craft store with Widget, ID on Monday so that if I do travel down to Georgia [g'ah!] and need it, I'll have a current one, annnnnnnd... then I pray that gas doesn't spike. Woo.
It's time to recommend some books for me. :D You know you want to. Influence my reading! Even if I don't actually read the book, I'll probably go looking for it. Maybe find it, cart it around, feel smarter than usual... it'll be fun for everyone. I... do not remember what else I was going to say. *is senile*
And now, a word from Mumsy.
The setup: Fridays are show & tell, and Widget seems to think he must bring something every week. I dunno if he has to, or if he just likes to show-off. Who can tell? Anyway, Mumsy is frantically trying to find something because no one said anything until about three minutes after he was supposed to have left for his bus stop [half a frickin' mile away]. My brother and I head towards the Widge, only to overhear this:
Mumsy: Well, what about this beer stein?
Annnnnnd my brother and I lost it. Because who doesn't offer the beer stein to the seven year old for show and tell at school?
