Oct. 20th, 2008 02:50 pmI spent yesterday afternoon/early evening waiting to be picked up so I could go watch Iron Man [which I'd avoided because I was broke and I already knew I loved RD Jr., thank you very much] and playing with Thomas. Mostly this involved kicking a blue basketball around like it was a soccer ball. This was painful on the toes for obvious reasons, but it was fun. Except when he kicked it really hard and it slammed into my shin. That I could have done without, but it only happened once, and I accidentally kicked the ball into the porch where it bounced back and hit his hand. I did this twice. :P
And then he slid off his bike, so I had to do that fun walk to get the boy, walk his bike back, clean him up, and break out the peroxide, all while assuring him that yeah, it might feel a little weird, but it wouldn't hurt half as much as he thought it would. Which we all know is a lie. And I felt bad about it because I know I used to freak out more about the cleaning of whatever I'd done to myself than having actually done it. The time the neighbor's dog scratched the hell out of my back? Yeah. That was so bad my mother couldn't even lie and say it wouldn't hurt. It was more of a, "bite down on this piece of cloth and try not to pass out, wouldja?" This might also explain why I'm a little wary of dogs.
Pain and suffering aside, that was fun.
The evening spent at Ari's was fun, too, except she spent most of the time doing homework. Which I could only feel halfway grumpy about since I had backed out on her actual birthday due to being exhausted. I'm going to either have to remember that Ari visits tend to happen late evening/night and sleep accordingly, or point out that I need an earlier visit so I don't spend the last hour yawning my head off. Finally saw an episode of Fringe. Really wish it were on a night when I don't have anything else to watch. Don't like that Tuesdays and Thursdays are crowded.
