Oh, Charmed fandom. I miss you so.
Jul. 11th, 2013 06:27 pmWith this week off, I've had more time to kill (in theory) which means I've poked the main page on LJ demanding it entertain me. Mostly it fails to do so but today it coughed up this little link on ONTD with videos from Alyssa's stint on Watch What Happens Live. First we get Shannen's previously on when she was asked to say 3 nice things about Alyssa and she looks clearly surprised. She says "she's pretty" three times and that's it. Alyssa actually names three different things and it isn't until some caller asks why Shannen got shitcanned that I got twitchy.
Alyssa says that she never knew why Shannen was let go, that she thought it was what Shannen wanted.

GUYS. Where are my Charmed friends when I need them to back me up when I say "Uh, what the fuck?"
GUYS.
NO.
I thought the general consensus was: Shannen wanted the show to go one way and thought Alyssa was less than professional. *cough* Alyssa was one of the 900 people on the planet who didn't enjoy working with Shannen and they both played the "It's her or me" card. Given the fact that 90210 survived the loss of Brenda (in the sense that it stayed on the air not that it was good), not to mention the Cole/Phoebe 'ship that was in the process of being sailed straight for the rocks... Shannen went buh-bye. Afterwards Alyssa claimed she'd never get between someone and their paycheck and there was some comment about protecting Holly and the fandom split right down the middle and wars were waged. WARS.
Oh, and how could I have forgotten the part where Shannen wanted to quit in S2 but obviously that would have screwed everyone, so they worked things out and by mid-S3 things seemed to be up and she directed the finale and left for whatever it is actors do when their show wraps for the season and then BAM. Pink-slipped. "Thanks for handing us our best ep ever but we're going in a more skankified direction and you clearly don't want that soooooooo... we're backing the actress who won't mind giving lapdances despite there being NO NEED." (And I feel bitchy for saying that but holyfuck did Cole's "I NEED PHOEBE, let me make everyone look like her" phase involve a lot of lap dances.
Anyway, back to the show. Alyssa makes a comment about the show being like High School and Holly tweets that uh, no, it was nothing like high school.
Dip down to the comments and everyone's crawling up Holly's ass despite the fact that Alyssa just did an impressive amount of revisionist history there. Lady, I thought we were past this. I was trying to work on my residual angry fan side. But to claim you don't know why she got fired? This isn't a loss prevention issue at my job, this is you going head to head with a costar and being the one to walk away with the job.
Clearly I still have issues.
The best part of this is that the boy wandered in the other day (Monday maybe?) while Mums was watching and Alyssa/Phoebe was skanking it up and he takes a minute and then asks, "When, exactly, did this show turn into porn?" and because I am clearly still invested more than is healthy, I answered, "When they decided she should be the star." The boy thinks for a minute and then says, "Makes sense."
It's been awhile since I've loved him more.
