I don't even know anymore
Jan. 13th, 2015 11:28 amYesterday, Ari had a seizure. Naturally she was in the bathroom at the time, because that's how January rolls around here, and she wound up at the ER for obvious reasons. To be fair, it doesn't sound like she was hurt, just that you go to the ER when these things happen to be checked out.
I guess it happened around 7pm-ish but my math could be wrong. Anyway, I didn't find out about it until 3am and that was just reading the text from yesterday. I sent Cass a text back asking wtf but didn't hear from her for another three/three and a half hours soooo... I had much time to worry. So much time to worry.
I did a little research and it sounds like this is actually one of those things that can happen after a traumatic brain injury (for such a big thing, that name sounds entirely anticlimactic) especially given the time frame.
Cass said that Ari was really out of it when she saw her, but later she was doing much better... and then, and this I don't really understand how they went to this point, they had to do surgery to put her trach back in. Apparently the wheezing Ari's been doing for months was a sign that the scar tissue had grown back or... I dunno.
Honestly, this feels an awful lot like the times Cass would call me up and tell me about something dumb she'd done six months before, and as I was processing that, she'd come clean about like six other things (usually lies she'd told) at the same time. It appears that trait is genetic.
In any case, Ari's at the hospital and sedated due to the trach. I'm cautiously optimistic that things will be okay, but that's mostly because if I start down the really worried road, I will curl up in a ball and just not do anything ever again.
