Last night I cleaned my vanity and bathroom areas (huzzah for adult me!) and then promptly messed the vanity up by playing with makeup.
I tried the Jordana Cat Eye eyeliners and they both went on incredibly easily and I suspect that if I actually practice, the black and I will get to be pretty good friends. The gold is far more forgiving and she and I are already plotting ways to sneak her in. I will say that there is definitely going to be a learning curve for me on the black because dude, it is black. There is no "gray with darker ambitions" or anything. Also, how anyone could think this was not a brush applicator I'll never know. They're on sale at work now (of course) 2/$5 and I think they'll prove to be worth that. So thumbs up there since I like them already and they make me want to venture out of my comfort zone.
The Covergirl Supersizer thing is still tricky for me to roll because that's just not how I'm used to applying mascara, HOWEVER this time I didn't immediately get my lashes all clumped together so I'm thinking that with time I'll get the hang of it. And it's worth the time because it's one of the few mascaras I've used recently that doesn't make me realize I'm wearing mascara.
Stop me if you've heard this before... :p but my lashes are blonde, like really light and some mascaras basically make me realize that I do, in fact, have eyelashes and it's very distracting because I don't always get used to this phenomenon. It's not even like I can just say that all the Blackest Black mascaras do this, as it can be any color, really.
So when I manage to apply this one and get it right, it doesn't scream "mascara!" unless I'm looking in a mirror and then it's less "mascara!" and more "hey, looking goooooood, lashes." On sale at work for $6.99 and you can probably still get the CG coupon either from your paper yesterday or online. I'm leaning towards yay on this as well.
Covergirl Jumbo Balm Creams.
I tried the Caramel one initially and the smell was chemically awful. I tried the other two colors (Berries n Cream and Strawberry Frappe) and I'm not sure if it's that I was bracing for the smell or if it was just not quite as bad, but I didn't immediately recoil in horror. Berries n Cream looked nothing like anything I would describe as a berry, but wasn't a bad shade. It was giving me 90's flashbacks of that nude matte look, only not quite that matte. The first swipe is pretty sheer and nude and then bam, you skip straight to the 90's. Odd.
Strawberry Frappe was exactly what it looked like it would be when you look at the packaging. Both were creamy and went on easily and if not for the damn smell, I'd probably give them thumbs up. But the smell...
Covergirl Ink It! in Violet Ink:
Holy shit, this was awful. It skipped and dragged and would not apply worth beans. On the plus side, and this is a severe reach, you have almost NO chance of applying this someplace by accident because it will take 47 passes to get any color whatsoever to show-up. On the downside, it wouldn't apply close enough to my lashes to even be worth the pain, so I had to go in and fix it with another liner entirely. Which is a shame because the color itself, once it deigns to show up, is gorgeous. Dark purple that isn't too much, somehow. Possibly because you give up after awhile trying to apply it so how can it possibly be too much? :p
Seriously, thumbs so far down that if it wouldn't be a bigger pain to try and return it (since I bought it with points) I would actually do that. I might still do that. I don't know. Maybe the great and wonderful Google will have someone who has figured out how to make it not suck. Who knows.
But no. I do not recommend this at all. Not even a little bit. Not even you, way in the back, who is thinking "feh, I can totally change this eyeliner." No. You cannot. You leave that crazy notion behind.
Today is June 1, and that means it's time to head on over to Cassy's Scentsy Site and do your order plotting. I'm doing one order today to grab a bar for Mums to see if she likes it and then another order later on. We're using the Because We Love Scentsy Party for the orders. This reminder is also for me because I'm awfully spacey at times.
