Mail calls are always fun
Jun. 14th, 2015 08:29 amSooooooooo... after waiting forever for my various things to arrive, they all arrived within four days. It was kind of amusing, actually.
First up was my Bath and Body Works order on Wednesday. I bought these loverly things:

Mums is already trying to swipe the Country Apple cream, so I might have to see about snagging another one. Even after sniffing Cotton Blossom, I'm still not sure if it was the one I thought it was (so many scents over the years) but I probably won't fully remember until I actually use it. I used to use it, or something similar, during the summer because it had a habit of mellowing out and just being a really good scent on, even if it was a little weird in the bottle. Secret Wonderland is... a thing. It's very pretty and it doesn't smell bad, it's just too strong for summer, I think.
The only downside, other than Wonderland not being totally awesome, was that one of my body washes had leaked in the box. :( Not much but enough to make things sticky. Sad panda!
Then Friday began the parade of packages. First up was my new bathing suit. Yes, I cheated and ordered online instead of terrorizing myself in store. That said, I did worry the entire time.
It appeared and I opened the bag and it was actually more purple than I'd anticipated (the background color is white and the picture online made it look more white) but in reality? Gorgeous. And of course now I can't find it on the site, so have a random google picture of it where it looks all pretty, color wise:

It was some insane price originally (seriously, wtf at swimsuits being $90?) but it was half off and there was a code for maybe 20% off that, too, I think, and it was basically a steal since the next cheapest suit I could find cost more and was pretty damn fug. But when did the universe decide that two piece make your own bathing suits was going to be the ONLY gig in town? I'm not a tiny girl, I do not need to be doing flips in the pool and worrying that my tankini (ugh) is going to roll up at the wrong moment or that the bottom will roll down. Just no. NO.
That said, I got it from JC Penney and you can fault them for whatever else, but holy crapmuffins do they ship fast. There was a problem with my billing method, so I had to call them Wednesday and I got my package Friday. That's just good service. They shipped as fast as B&BW, or maybe a little faster.
We already discussed the Scentsy order, so we'll move on to the last order.
I'd been eying Birchbox for awhile, but when there was a code to get your first box for $1, I decided what the heck. Sooo I ordered and waited and waited. I avoided spoilers and it finally came and my disappointment was great. I'll have to get pictures to show you, but here's the general mehness in word form.
First up, I didn't realize how tiny these boxes are. I mean, I should have because it's a box of samples. But still, tiny. I got it out of it's pink shipping box and I'll admit that the box itself is pretty. But then you open it and you see your samples and they're all so very, very tiny and you're just left wondering, "Is this it?"
I mean, the first thing I uncovered that wasn't the content list or the "You have a mystery prize awaiting you online! (it's 20% off a $50 order, I think), was one of those fabric hair ties. I see the cheap ones at work and I'm pretty sure cheap or expensive, my hair is going to eat this sucker. So that's a waste right there.
Then a skin brightener and a BB cream that are teensy. There's an eyeliner that looks promising and I think there was something else, too... Oh, yeah, a sample of an eyeshadow quad. The eyeshadow looks really interesting but how the fuck you're supposed to use it without getting the colors all over one another, I have NFI.
Some part of me figured that the $1 box was going to be pretty lame because they had to know the code would spread like wildfire. But at the same time, it's your first chance to blow people away, y'know? So I might give them one more shot, but if July isn't wowza, I'll be canceling it, I'm sure.
Yesterday brought my Marshmallow Eating Heath Burns who will assist me in my Birchbox disappointment later. I was amused since Amazon had him up for preorder or something and then as soon as I ordered him I got a "yay, we're sending you your item now!" email. That's... special. I wasn't expecting him that fast but he's adorkable.
My summer hoodie outfit from AG also arrived yesterday. Who do we put it on...
I'm off to get ready for the pool. Hopefully there won't be people there and nothing will be wrong with it this time.
