(no subject)

On the way to work last night, the power went out. I mean all the lights in the city just went dark. At first I thought it was just that particular neighborhood but as we kept going, there still weren't any lights. Not even on the Connector to James Island. By the time we hit Folly, it was apparent this was a big loss of power.

I got to work and it was dark but I could see people inside and yup, co-workers waiting to let me in. Power came back after maybe 20 minutes, if that, and then we spent another two hours (and the rest of the night, on and off) trying to get everything back to working order.

As the minutes clicked by and you realized how few things had any lights, it was just really, really spooky.

Never did get a reason other than power lines went down on JI. Why, exactly, did that have any effect on West Ashley?

And I totally lied, I'm too tired to do Part 2 today.

Instead I ordered my new bookcases so they'll be here in time for my vacation cleaning and playing with toys.

Now to sleep while the rest of the city is invaded by politics in the name of mourning.
