So much girlie, so little time
Mar. 31st, 2016 02:22 pmIn fluffier news, let's talk makeup before we segue into dolls briefly. Because really, what else is there to talk about before bed?
I've tried two more of the items in my Sephora set.
NUDESTIX Lip + Cheek Crayon in Whisper - this isn't awful on me, and I like the way it wears, it's just going to need another color to make me look less dead. If nothing else, I've learned that nude lipsticks are basically a neverending hunt that I don't think I care to continue. It's just a lot of guess work and I don't have the time or the funds for it. So this will work, but it needs to be doctored a bit.
NARS Dolce Vita Lipstick in Dolce Vita - These were both the full size items, btw. I swear, this particular one looks tiny. I mean, it isn't once I compared it to other lipsticks I own, but initially it looked itty bitty. Sooooo... I'm not sure how to feel about this one. On the one hand, it's a lovely color and I like the way it looks. It only lasts for about five hours and I'm not taking this to work to reapply, but it's definitely something I can put on and not worry about how it looks. Why? Because this is basically the same shade as my lips. I get that it's supposed to be universally flattering, but holy crap, why would I want to spend $28 on something that is, at best, a Your Lips But Better (but not really)? I got mad enough at myself for spending the what, $2.99 on a Wet n Wild crayon that was the same thing, so... $28?
The only thing left is the Marc Jacobs sample liner. It was an interesting purchase, but I'm not really sure I get the love for any of this stuff except the Tarte paint. That stuff has my heart. Otherwise, I've reached far more for my (possibly?) discontinued Revlon Lip Butter. Nude lips, man. Who knew they required so much work?
Got a slew of compliments on my nails last week when I went with the minty She's Gone Matte Sinful Colors and topped it with Revlon's Graffiti Top Coat. Doing a similar one this week, for science.
Waiting for my Walmart beauty box (I'd say don't judge but... judge away). I don't think I've had something just sit so long at a post office since maaaaaaaybe one of my AGs just set up shop in Atlanta once. Seriously. Three days in one spot. WTF? It wasn't even Easter, when I could have understood not moving!
Oh, and the Revlon all in one mascara (the red topped one) is complete crap. I bought it right before I got sick and basically waited until I didn't have the ick at all and gave it a whirl. The first time wasn't awful, it just did that thing where one eye looked amazing and the other eye clumped like crazy. I really need to buy another brush for that so I can fix things. Or, y'know, just keep the wand for this one and throw the tube out because my other tries with this sucker have flaked insanely. I don't think I have ever had a mascara flake so quickly and so thoroughly ever before. Within two hours, it was a mess. Just a huge mess. I don't mind the itty bitty brush but it's awful in every other respect. Boo. Hiss. I think I got it for free and I still think I paid too much. :P
In doll news, it looks like Melody is being pushed back to August. :/ WTF, AG? You released her first book January 1st, you had the second book scheduled for release in June, which lead to everyone assuming she'd appear then (not completely unheard of since Rebecca dropped in May, I think?) but now you're pushing her back to August? Most of her collection has been shown, officially... what are you waiting for?
