Huh. Every so often I'm reminded that my tastes are apparently waaaaaay out of step with other people's. I think Melody's pajamas are adorable now that I've gotten to see better/closer pictures (I wasn't sold way back in Feb when we got our first peek) and I like her bed. I won't be buying it only because I have a crapton of AG beds already, but it's different. You've got the super frilly beds of Rebecca and Samantha and then you've got Kit and Melody to ground things a bit. I like it.
It's also pretty similar to a bed I bought my nephew a couple of years ago that he adores and it's not like I look at it and see "definitely a boy bed". He just wanted it because of the storage options. :P

But holy cow, reading through some of the Melody threads on PT, these women (I'm fairly certain most of the detractors in the threads I'm thinking of are women) are vicious. Damn, people. Stating that you lived through the era once and you weren't a fan of the bedding then or now is fine. Saying the PJs are super ugly and why the eff would anyone have okayed them? Not fine.
Sigh. But it's also not worth wading into the fray for because other people popped up to "well, actually" and other than a fantastic takedown of one of the people I'm not super fond of, probably not worth following anymore.
Seriously, I'm a petty person and while I've eased up considerably on my dislike of this woman, her constant "I grew up on an Army base and this is what I saw and Skipper fashions say this was a thing at the time" barage across multiple boards is exhausting. So to finally have someone point out that the Army world and the rest of the American fashion world are not always going to be the same, ESPECIALLY back then? I heard angels sing for a moment. Truly.

Saw this on Tumblr and since we're inching ever closer to my favorite time of year and also because it's finally merely hot and not we're all gonna die, I figured it was time to get in the mood.

1. The smell of pumpkin guts or rotting leaves?
Pumpkin guts. That means it's Halloween. :D

2. Sweet or salty pumpkin seeds?
Either? I mean, if you're making me pumpkin seeds, I'm happy to try either.

3. Store bought or pumpkin patch pumpkins?
It's more fun to go to the pumpkin patch, but the pumpkins we got from the patch were a pain to carve. Which is funny since I think they provide the pumpkins for some of the local stores, but anyway. I don't care where my pumpkin comes from as long as I have one.

4. Wool or knit sweaters?
Knit. Wool catches on my fingers. Ick.

5. Halloween party or exploring haunted places?
Haunted places. There's usually a history lesson involved, or at least a good spooky story.

6. Candy corn or mellowcreme pumpkins?
GASP. You expect me to choose? Candy corn can be nibbled so carefully while pumpkins are to be devoured. You must have both.

7. Apple cider donuts or pumpkin donuts?
I... don't know whether I've ever had either. I'd probably try the cider ones first, though.

8. Apple pie or pumpkin pie?
Are we talking normal pumpkin pie or is Mums making her pie? Because I'll take the chiffon pie over apple any day of the week, but I'll take apple pie over pumpkin pie every other time. (I don't actually like regular pumpkin pie.)

9. Scary costume or something silly?
Both!

10. Still, silent nights or rainy, windblown ones?
Uh, duh. Rainy, windblown.

11. Hocus Pocus or Halloweentown?
I have no preference. What kind of sacrilege, I know.

12. Witches or ghosts?
Depends, but I'm gonna go with both because I like some variety.

13. Raking leaves or climbing trees?
Y'know, I think I only ever climbed one tree in my life. I did it a few times, but really, the trees where I grew up weren't for climbing. And raking leaves is a blasted chore, so neither.

14. Ouija boards or ghost stories around a campfire?
I prefer the psychic circle board and it's constant barage of messages for Cass, even when she wasn't there. Or Nelle flirting with one of the spirits. Good times, good times.

15. Frankenweenie or The Corpse Bride?
Original Frankenweenie. Obviously.

16. October or November?
October!

17. Black cats or owls?
Black cats. I'd like an army, thank you.

18. Fireplace or candlelight?
Candlelight. Fireplaces are a lot of work and they get too hot.

19. Monster movies or their classic novels?
Both? Probably movies first, then novels, but it hurts my soul to choose.

20. Carve or paint pumpkins?
Carve. It ain't Halloween unless you've risked a little dismemberment.

eta: For frick's sake, what is going on over at BBW? I went years without an issue (prior to this summer, I think the most that ever happened was a soap opened a little and got on another bottle. Not all of it, or most of it, just a little) and my last three orders have been cursed. Order 1 went missing. Order 2 sent someone else's order in its place. Order 3, which was essentially a replacement for order2? The ceramic soap holder arrived shattered. Which is kinda funny since it's bubblewrapped to hell and back but the ghost was just thrown in with a plastic cover and was fine.

So I emailed them again, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to wind up at the store this weekend so maybe I'll just swap it then? I dunno.
