Jul. 2nd, 2018 04:05 amStarted my July off with a weird mix.
Work kicked my ass but I also knew it would because they can't/won't hire anyone for overnight and with the 4th being smack dab in the middle of the week, everyone is claiming both the weekend before and the one after as holiday weekends. So it's busy. Throw in it being tag-a-palooza (where we put up all the new monthly tags as well as the weekly tags) and cig count and it being summer and tourist season and basically I had no chance. It didn't help that the system went down numerous times while I was scanning the cigs. Ugh.
To be fair, it wasn't as busy as I feared it would be... but what we lacked in sheer numbers, we made up for in those customers who did come in needing an awful lot of attention. Which is worse because if they look at the numbers and see you had a zillion customers to ring, they don't fuss as much as they do when it's like half that but you had to answer 500 questions, check a zillion prices, unlock various cases, and soothe frazzled nerves before someone got themselves strangled.
Also, creepy bike dude showed up and would not shut up. Dude, it's pretty obvious which perfumes/colognes have testers in the glass case because they are the bottles that aren't hidden away in a cardboard box. And yet I had to repeat that concept so many times and he wouldn't just drift back over to cos so I could, in theory, follow and point it out. Nope, he had me stuck at the front register and I could not escape, even if it was to possibly help him since they took away my second door. Woe. Luckily the pharmacist saved me.
Went swimming after work once it became clear that if nothing else, I'd get a few minutes before it might rain. (I was right in that I got a few minutes before it rained and that it did, in fact, rain. But no thunder or lightning so I kept my ass in the pool.) It was nice except that it was pretty warm already and there was some dude fishing in the pond behind the pool and he was smoking pretty heavily. I wanted to say something about the smoke and the fishing but since technically I was also breaking the rules and he no longer had a sign that said no fishing in the pond... eh. But no one appeared at the pool to invade my space.
Well. No one human, anyway.
The geese walked by maybe half an hour into my swimming? Not sure since I have yet to buy myself a watch. This gave me the giggles since Mom suggested asking the geese to come be my guards since she didn't want me to be alone... and then they did. Sort of. They just walked down the road but they did get my attention.
Later, when I was debating whether I was done for the day or if I wanted to head back to the deep end for a bit longer, I noticed that my kitty friend was coming up the parking lot by the pool. When kitty noticed me looking in her direction, she raced to the fence and mewed her greetings and then frustrations when a cat door failed to magically appear. Clearly it was time to bid the pool a fond farewell and attempt to dry off. You don't keep your kitty friend waiting.
Came home, showered and did who knows what for the next several hours before eventually crashing into bed. Woke up for an exceptionally late dinner when Widget had to be hauled out of bed for work and now I'm torn between going back to bed and trying to work up the energy to work on my room. On the one hand, I'd actually really like to clean it up before my mini vacation next week. On the other, I would also very much like to sleep and not be coated in dust before possibly making my triumphant return to the pool this morning. Decisions. Am I actually tired or am I just lazy tired?
