lemme rant about companies sucking
Aug. 31st, 2021 04:57 amHalloween 2021 continues to be a clusterfuck. This past Saturday was the Boney Bunch (Yankee Candle) release date and while the past few years they've definitely slacked off on the promoting it, they did still put out a catalog and advertised the launch date. Alas, they changed their site so I couldn't do my yearly sneak peek (woe) which might've told the rest of the people that uh, YC? Had no intention/ability to go forward with the launch as planned. They had maybe 25 items online and that's if you're counting the individual candle sizes for this. In store it was a total crapshoot as some stores got nothing and others got everything.
Annnnnnnnnd nowhere did YC mention that due to the ongoing fuckery in the world that the launch would be staggered/pushed back for two weeks, at least online. Nowhere. This is a thing most places would drop in a FB post or on the little header on their site. I've heard people try and rationalize this as, "well, they didn't want scalpers going to the store and wiping them out."
Dude, big companies don't give a goddamn shit about scalpers because they made their money from them and what happens on the secondary market does not concern them beyond occasionally making them realize they could offer more or charge more. Also, given that every single year that I've paid attention to this launch, YC has managed to fuck things up but at least get most of the items up and online for purchase by 9am EST, the fact that nooooooooooooothing beyond those 25 items made it really obvious to anyone with a store that if you were in the market to get your scalping on, all you had to do was buy anything not online. Which was like, everything else.
So no. It wasn't to deter scalpers.
I don't really give a shit about BB. But I do love me some black cat Sophia and she's making her comeback this year and I want both pieces and had set aside money for them and now I have to take a chance on two additional weeks of people being super fucking antsy. :/
Sigh.
Also, Target, clear my payment so I can buy my shit. Thank you.
In less spendy news, Polish Pickup is up for wishlisting for their Halloween/September theme. I was good last month and didn't buy a lot (I bought 3 things and two of those were topcoat because why wouldn't I buy one that's supposed to be amazing and smells like redhots?) because I was sure Halloween themed stuff would be AmAzInG. Like last year. Mm, no. A lot of it is in colors I would never wear, or has bar glitter (seriously, there's one that's perfect except for the bar glitter and it kills me) or something else I'm just not a fan of and thus makes it unwearable for... and the stuff I do like is too similar to stuff I already own. Which is disappointing. I have my eye on 2 polishes for sure, with a third that I need to see if I just bought a dupe or not. So I guess not wanting a lot in that department is nice. But also not because I'd really been looking forward to seeing all the pretty. And unless you're a big fan of swamp-ass green, this month ain't for you. :p
