fine, Target, you win. For now.
Jul. 17th, 2023 10:09 amSoooooooooo... yesterday Target put up their Halloween Hydge & Eek stuff and it was the first time in days I hadn't checked pretty much as soon as I woke up. Of course. D'oh.
I missed all the cute little Featherly Friends birds but they still had all the little Mini Mantle stuff I like to buy.
So I think I bought all of it. I was going to wait on one or two things but during checkout the blanket I wanted sold out, so I didn't have to choose after all.
Not sure if they're doing the cute little 3-D figure sets though, as I didn't see any of them pop up yet.

BEHOLD.
This year is probably their most sedate offering yet, as it's all greys, blacks, oranges, and white, with nary a slime green or bright purple to be found. There's no wild and crazy offering, like the year of the Pirates or the Ferris wheel, but it's giving me overcast October vibes and I'm down with that. I had hoped to get the blanket simply to make sure they were padded safely since Target's shipping comes down to one of two extremes:
everything, and I do mean everything, is wrapped in protective covering and it takes about half an hour to debox every little thing
OR
throw it all in a box, let god sort it out. Bonus points if you can affix a big ol' label to something and ruin it in the process.
The smaller sets are usually packaged in clamshell plastic, so assuming they don't get slammed around, they're not my big worry, but the bigger pieces are just...there. So anything that's got fiddly bits, like the tree limbs on the gate piece? Iffy.
What's entirely new?
The barn. Unless I'm blanking on something, they haven't done a barn yet. The child in a wheelchair is also new. Everything else is a new take on something they've done before.
We had a candy shoppe before, and I own it but it's a Halloween town, it can sustain more than one candy shop. :P
The house is kind of required and it's a new design, setting it apart from previous houses. ...I am now going to spend the rest of the day researching the Target Halloween villages, aren't I? FUCK, brain, why can't you fixate on things that would actually be USEFUL?
We've had at least two previous cemetery gates, but when asked, "Do I need another gate?" Cass said yes. In my defense, I did skip one of the other gates so this is only the second. Need an entrance and an exit, right? Right??
Black cats, ghosts, and skellies are obviously staples, as are the trees. I really love this year's cat in a pumpkin theme, which they've got as a big ol' sign that I need and a framed piece of art that I believe I ordered already. I really love this year's trick or treaters, especially since this year they look more residents of Halloween town versus kids dressed as trick or treaters. Like it wasn't until this morning that I realized the pumpkin kid wasn't a pumpkin person. :P My absolute favorite set is the ghosts, though. They are cute as hell and I love ALL OF THEM. I nearly bought a second set and I cannot say that I won't if I find them in person.
Now, before I go all deep dive, I need to get dressed. I leave you with the alternate views of those same products. Enjoy!

Oh, and this is the art of which I spoke. Not sharing the other cat as the one I really wanted was sold out and now is back in stock now that like, nothing else is, and the one I bought I plan to give to a coworker. But look at this doofy cat! So cute. I neeeeeeeeed it in the bigger sign form but I'm trying to be good.
