Jul. 30th, 2024 12:56 amBlerghl. The toy gods giveth and the toy gods taketh away. On the one hand, I got to pick my Bea and she's bringing a friend (Albie) but then I had to cancel my Hissfits order because my Hissfits money went to Bea. Dangit.

She's so cute though.
On the flipside, SDCC yielded quite a bit of goodies from IWTV, particularly promo for their Vampire Lestat season. :D While I do hope they fix some things when they go and do the season proper (I'm with those who think his hair is too crunchy), I'm more than cautiously optimistic. :D I do have a friend who is just as excited, if not moreso, but anytime someone mentions they get _whatever vibes_ she's like "yeah, no, it's more __" which she's probably right, but I like to think the real answer is it's ALL of them. Because I get her *tries to remember* Jim Morrison vibe, but I'll be damned if I didn't immediately hear shades of fucking Tim Curry and I'm not giving that thought up. :P
Mom and I went through one of the boxes of pictures from the shed and now I'm more confused than I started. I swear when we were moving out of the last place, we found a whole bunch of pictures and basically chucked them in one of the moving boxes, put "PICTURES" on the box and moved onto the next. I thought that was this box but this was less pictures and more Dad's prospective college booklets? There were some photos, like more of Dad's college football pics and quite a few from Mom and Dad's wedding rehearsal that I'd never seen before, and obviously the bottom of the box came from my grandfather's desk because I remember the framed photos from his room, though I didn't realize he had one of his second wife and after an afternoon that involved a medium sized family secret, we ended with Mom remembering wife 2 chasing after my grandfather with a butcher knife. To which I asked, "was that at the end of the marriage?" and she just shrugged and said it was in the first year. Which implies there was more than one year. o_O It's not the first time I've heard about crazy Joyce and the knife but never fully put it together that this wasn't the end of the marriage. No wonder my aunt didn't fully pull the plug on her marriage when her husband went nuts. It was more than a little sad to see how little Mom was in the family photos though. I know part of it was she went to boarding school and due to their ages/illness, she was the only one away for chunks of time but still. It's one thing to know it, it's another to kind of have tangible proof of it. I guess it's possible the two or three pages where the pictures were stuck together could've had mom photos all over them and I'll likely never know. Also, I don't think I ever really put together how different my aunt Joan looked compared to her sisters. Not sure how different she looked as a little kid since she was so much older than the others and I think we only saw two baby pictures of her but as an adult or young adult? Very different. To be fair though, the pics from my youngest aunt's first marriage I think caught the remaining four at their most different from each other looks.
While having my lunch break, we tried watching the live surfing coverage but like... nothing happened and I started to feel a little seasick watching the pretty blue waves roll this way and that. Seriously envious of places with beautiful water; ours is murky on a good day.

She's so cute though.
