Give me validation
Feb. 16th, 2026 11:35 amLast week I finally got around to cleaning the pile of rubble I call my room. It's not 100% clean or anything, but I had a solid goal in mind and despite trying to tackle it for eons now, I managed to actually get the job done much quicker than I originally thought. It still took multiple episodes of Murder, She Wrote to actually finish, but I got there in the end.
More importantly... it's still clean. I need to pick up a couple of things right by my bed that have fallen because, y'know, life with cats, but still. STILL. CLEAN.
The upside/downside of this is that I did all that in order to get ready for me buying two new bookcases for my room. I'm not quite as gung-ho about it as I was when I did my cleaning frenzy, partly because Widget was baffled by my double-checking to see if he was still sent to anchor them to the wall once I got them and got them up, and not in that "duh, why are you asking again" way, but legit didn't remember agreeing and then concluding he was likely high when he said yes. Um... my good sir, what? I'm not asking you to bolt these down with chains and whatnot, just the simple little anchor thingie they include. o_O
So I had to pivot since having two non-anchored bookcases behind my bed seems like a Very Bad Idea indeed. And I actually really do like my pivot idea even more, in theory. But I worry I'm gonna hate it in practice and it's not something that can really get shuffled around otherwise.
It doesn't help that I can't find a bookcase I really like. When did adjustable shelves (maybe not the middle one in a five/six shelf bookcase, but at least two of the others) become impossible to find? It used to be the standard. Now I can only find them in metal bookcases or weirdly shaped ones that are less for books and more for showing off collectibles. Which, y'know, fair since these two aren't going to be FILLED with just books, but I need some height, dammit. I guess I could just use my current two that do have adjustable shelves for the plush and doll armies (and the books I have accrued over the last however many years) and then put the books from those bookcases on the new ones. *muse* We shall see.
I'd wanted to be able to order them in time to have them for my next three day weekend, and that could still happen since I just looked and it turns out I still have no idea what day it is. (Don't work third shift, kids, you will never again have any grasp of what day it is. Moreso than the COVID lack of of days.)
And now, back to my games.
