TOYFAIR. Totally all caps, yes.
Feb. 14th, 2015 11:01 amOkay, first things first:
Happy Valentine's Day! If you're my friend, you are loved and someone is thinking of you. That someone is me. Shh, don't tell the others.
Moving along before we get too mushy, replies will be done over my weekend (today is not a weekend day for me) but I didn't want anyone else to forget that it's frickin' TOY FAIR.
Third: If you go looking for Toyfair pictures, beware of Way to Wonderland Kitty shots. I tasted stars (not the good kind) for a second when I saw her because she took my headache from playing peekaboo to "I think I lost a quadrant in my head for a second..." It was not pleasant. Like, the lighting is killing me, sort of literally. It is causing me actual physical pain. So I'm going to wait it out. For now.
Until then, let's take a moment to join the legion of people freaking out about Disney's Descendants:

Carlos, son of Cruella; Lonnie, daughter of Mulan; Evie, daughter of the Evil Queen; Mal, daughter of Maleficent; Audrey, daughter of Aurora; and Anxelin, daughter of Eugene and Rapunzel. And the Prince is Ben, Beast and Belle's son, I believe.

First stop, the names. Just an observation.
Second: This is based on a live action TV movie that looks like it is going to be cheesy as hell. I will, of course, be watching.
Third: Evie, my sweet... come to me. I need you. Every incarnation of you. And I'll be needing signature Mal and Lonnie, too.

But the skintone not matching between body/face is a dealbreaker, Hasbro. A DEALBREAKER.

The real question is whether this will light a fire under Mattel's butt to make EAH better. I'm betting storywise, EAH wins, but doll wise? Well...
Also, if you'd given me a very long time, I would have only guessed Maleficent because she's a villain and she's been in the spotlight recently. Mal does nothing to scream Maleficent to me, unlike Evie who is pretty spot on as far as Evil Queen goes. Well, the daughter of, anyway.

Date: 2015-02-14 11:20 pm (UTC)I figure that Descendents should be fun in some way, even if it's a trainwreck. Villains!

Date: 2015-02-16 01:40 pm (UTC)Yes to the faces! Hell, the same characters get more than one face right off the bat. It sure beats people having to squint to see if Ashlynn really is different from Apple, Raven, and Maddie... not to mention everyone else.
Parts of the storyline read as EAH but there's a twist. Beast and Belle's son (See the Princely lookin' dude) is about to take the throne (because Beast was the king?) and offers the children of the villains (who are all on an island and I'm imagining this the booziest island ever) the chance to get the heck off the island and be respectable members of Disney society. So... they all go to school together while the villains try to get their kids to trick the goody-two shoes and take over. Will they be good, will they be evil, will the acting be just as painful as the shows these kids are being culled from? (Yes, yes, and yes are my guesses.)
