AG's doing some... interesting things, so I guess we'll talk about that.

First up, there's a BeForever sale going on through tonight where most of the dolls (not Nanea) have bundles for $125, or there are some outfits/accessories/stuff on sale. I have no money so I refuse to look too closely lest I fall in love. :p

Next, Luciana (GOTY 2018) has a nifty little Doll STEM book coming out next year and for awhile AG had a preview of the pages up so you could see a bit more of Luciana and her collection:

Shifting gears a smidge, it also appears that the Truly Me line will get four boys and the fandom has lost their minds:

You'd think someone went back in time and pissed all over everyone's white bodied dolls the way this has been received. Personally I am just sitting here wondering if Logan really sold well enough to justify this. Also, I am trying desperately to care and I just can't work up a single solitary fuck to give. Huh. I don't see how anyone can see this picture and think that any of the molds have been tweaked or see much of anything beyond IDing the molds and hair colors. That outfit is kinda cute but it's also essentially the same outfit they tended to give the Bitty Twin boy every outing so... eh.

AN ASIAN BOY. A company finally recognizes there are practically zero Asian male dolls in existence and it's the one with $115 dolls. Of course. Sonali boy looks super cute. I'm, as you know, not a big fan of the mold on girls, but from this blurry little photo, it seems to work well on boys. I dunno if I'll buy any and definitely not until they get better outfits, but Sonali boy and Jess boy are rather tempting. Roslin's long lost twin brother? Hmm. And they could have easily made Classic blondie into Stirling. The outfit is dull, but overall I approve.

And I like the starry dress a lot.

I feel like my Kohl's has that outfit. I'll try to remember to check soon.

I do wonder if they'll throw classic in Kit scenes to be Stirling. They've re-purposed Logan for other photoshoots and it'd make sense to show the potential.

Maybe other companies will follow AG's lead and we'll get a few Asian male dolls thrown into the world?

The galaxy dress is pretty snazzy though I like it more as an additional outfit and not a potential Meet as has been floated around.

Wow, I'm surprised they're doing more boy dolls! Do they really think it's an untapped market (either for boys who want to play with dolls, or girls who want to play with boy dolls)? Is it really an untapped market?

I do find it amusing that the adult collectors are up in arms. Like AG ever directs any of their efforts to said group...

Logan was initially really well received, at least online and in the press. I think he got more ink than Nanea did and definitely more than Gabby did. But I was under the impression that his sales had slacked considerably over the past few months. Maybe AG figures new face mold options will help, maybe it's a Sonali situation: she didn't sell all that well but that didn't stop them from making two Truly Me options that debuted six months into Chrissa's (and Sonali's) year and they've done pretty well. I think I'd understand this move more if it was happening before Christmas and not set for the day after.

It tickles me because when AG does throw collectors a bone, they still manage to fuck it up. See Caroline and the NOLA girls. Both have collections that collectors drooled over (with a few missteps for each) but did not freakin' buy. There are too few of us and what we want is too varied, so what's the point in targeting us?

That said, I will be extra pissed if they go and make a historical boy who isn't already an existing character. I wouldn't mind if AG decided to make Stirling from Kit's books or Davey from Maryellen's and just revived the best friends thing that way but otherwise... nyargh.
