impyI'm in the middle of painting my nails (gotta use my stocking stuffer gifts, y'know?) and we'll take a moment to blather on about whatever pops into my head. Which, I've got to warn you, will probably not last long because I'm still sick (sick again?) and my brain is basically set to "oooh, shiny!" at the moment.
Might as well begin with the ick, I guess. I swear, during the great freeze, I felt mostly okay. I still had a bit of a cough from my Christmas cold, but it wasn't awful. I also did not go skipping around outside in the cold without proper layers or while my hair was wet in the hopes that it would freeze and I would have icicle hair. But either my cold rebounded or it remembered that we needed to do that bit at the end where you cough so hard you fear you're going to break a rib, or Widget brought home yet another cold and my weakened state said, "come on in, guys! Make yourself at home. The lungs look good at the moment, so sit and stay awhile."
All of that is a long way of saying I keep coughing and either the coughing or the fact that people at work seem to think putting super heavy totes on the bottom of a uboat is a good idea has managed to bork my ribs. Then yesterday my throat started to tickle and I am not happy about this. I've tried to be good and not overexert myself (ha, because I'm lazy) but yeah. Spending my days off lounging in bed coughing every five seconds was not ideal.
Mom and Widget have a court thing and I'm a bit worried about that (he did something exceptionally stupid awhile ago) and Mom's eye surgery has been moved so I have to decide whether to tell work it's been moved and switch my days off or just ask for those days off as well and keep the old surgery date as a "good job, you didn't keel over yet" kind of thing. I was looking forward to them, honestly. Not the surgery, but the days off.
Let's see, let's see. I've been doing pretty well reading, so that's a nice plus. I wound up on a sort of Practical Magic-esque vibe kind of book read, which is to say it's an everyday kind of magic.
Some dude at work keeps hitting on me and it's kind of annoying because he shows up on days when it's just me and it's always super late and he's a regular so my brain hasn't fully transitioned from "guy who buys _ and _" to "guy who buys those and then hits on me like I'm going to be swept away by your love affair with Newports and long walks on the beach." It is never the ones you want to hit on you.
Sigh.
We had pizza last night and it was freakin' expensive. Papa John's usually is, but this was even more so. We spent about the usual amount but got less and I'm not entirely sure if this is just a lull period for them specials wise or if they're switching to being even more expensive.
The snow is still here, in case you wondered. Most of it melted yesterday but there are still patches and so school is closed... again.
Someone talk me out of/into this. I dig mystery boxes and I've tried and enjoyed Zoya polishes (though only when on sale because duh)...

Date: 2018-01-10 03:48 am (UTC)I'd take the days you already have scheduled and try for more when your mom's surgery actually happens (you can always tell work that you didn't know til the last minute about the change in surgery plans). You certainly deserve the time off! Especially if you have Creepy McCreeperson targeting you when you're alone at night *shudder*
I'm not going to talk you out of the Zoya box! :D I've never used Zoya polishes but I've been sorely tempted. Alas, they're a bit too rich for my blood, but I certainly wouldn't deny that pleasure to someone else!

Date: 2018-01-10 02:28 pm (UTC)I saw Creepy last night when I wasn't alone (gasp!) so I suppose it's possible I only notice him on my alone nights since there's no one else to run interference. Still, I went the other way once I realized it was him. :P Put in for the new days and we'll just see how it all shakes out, I suppose.
The only real problem with the Zoya box is deciding on the third color. I zeroed right in on Delaney and Finley but what to choose for the third color. I think I tried them out a couple of years ago during one of their Earth Day sales maybe? I want to say they were half price and free shipping if you hit a certain amount ($25?) and I figured what the hell. So many sparkles to choose from.
