SAS mini haul

impyHad what was supposed to be a mini-rant about authors and midlife crises and decided to just let that one go. At least a bit longer, anyway.
Instead, my BBW order came in yesterday. It was pretty small and there are a few things I'm kicking myself for not snagging to try but at the same time, I think it's best when you wind up liking everything you buy rather than wanting to return half of it because you were so very, very wrong... and also because BBW wouldn't know how to accurately describe half their stuff.
In any case, I picked up:
Pink Magnolia travel size body cream for Mums because I like to buy Mums stuff and the minis work best when you don't know how it'll work out. I think this one worked out because I sniffed it when I opened my box and it smells pretty good.
A garden-fresh medley of steam-distilled natural magnolia oil, jasmine petals, wild orchid & sheer musk
I don't really get any of the musk when I sniff it either on Mums or in the bottle. I'm tempted to get a larger size but then I worry it'll be like whatever scent I got Mums last year (the year before?) where it smelled good for a week and then we both realized it was a headache inducer.
Beach Nights Summer Marshmallow shower gel because I'm at the 3/4 range on my dupe for it whose name escapes me at the moment. I'm not sure if I have another one in my box of BBW goodies or not, so I threw this baby in because I love this scent.
A warm blend of toasted marshmallow, sea salt breeze & s'mores
I smell delicious when I wear this and, when it's summer and a thousand degrees outside, it somehow smells even better. ♥
Tis the Season Hand soap because I kind of had to when I read this:
Be merry & bright all season long with this festive blend of red apple, ground cinnamon, & clove
I don't need much to make me happy when it comes to soap, really.
Spiced Apple Toddy Melt because I've never tried a BBW melt and also because this sounded intriguing:
Warm Apple Brandy, Spiced Plum, Tart Cranberry, Cinnamon Stick
I haven't melted it yet but it does sniff pretty good. I'd debated snagging the candle version but it must've had a different description that included something I loathe or maybe I just decided to be cost effective just this once. Who knows?
Root Beer Float 3 wick candle because I follow candle people and they've all lost their damn minds over this thing. It's either the second coming of the lord or it's vile and there's little in between.
Root Beer, Vanilla Ice Cream, Dollop of Whipped Cream
I like me some Root Beer and I think this would be Liz Wakefield approved because that was pretty much the only soda she'd drink and this smells exactly like what you'd expect it to given the name. What it says on the tin. It might be completely different when lit but for now I am happy.
Banana Split Milkshake 3 wick candle is the other candle everyone has gone nutty over. Like even before SAS, people were posting pictures of buying multiples of this... even though they knew it was coming down the pike on sale. I dunno.
Sweet Banana, Chocolate Sauce, Cherry on Top
I don't get any chocolate or cherry as this smells pretty much exactly like a banana milkshake with some vanilla in there because why the heck not. I'm pretty sure that if this doesn't turn weird when lit, I will be craving banana milkshakes this summer. :P
I also ordered Afternoon Apple Picking but it's the item that was cancelled even though my order keeps trying to say it's coming later. Doubt it, little order tracker. Doubt it.

Shame as I do love the sound of it.
Overall, nothing made me wince and wonder why I spent money on that so I'm happy. I kind of want to brave a store but I also don't. Maybe I'll try Monday.

Banana split milkshake sounds vile to me. I ♥ bananas but something about artificial banana scent just turns my stomach :-/
The only candle I was tempted by was the Iceland candle because World Cup, but I ultimately took it out of my bag because I dunno if I'd like it (not sure about "masculine" as a descriptor). I don't burn three-wicks very often so I figured my $10 would be better spent elsewhere.
BTW - what author is going through a midlife crisis now? Curious minds are dying to know :D

I waffled hardcore on both candles because of the reasons you mentioned (will I really like smelling root beer for a couple of hours at a time? What if the banana smells horrid?) but luckily (?) I have a soft spot for artificial banana, I guess. I like some versions and loathe some. BBW had another banana scent last year or the year before that I smelled and thought I was gonna die. I do keep wanting to call it Banana Spilt Milkshake though.
Masculine seems to be code for cologne or musk of doooooooooooom usually. Or it was for awhile anyway? I did think of you when I saw the World Cup candle though!
Jim Butcher. I feel a little bad calling it such, but you get a divorce, stall your most popular series to such a degree that it's pretty much the first thing that pops up on Google, date and get engaged to a model...

Author wank: I've looked in all my usual haunts and I give, I can't find anything about Jim Butcher's midlife crisis. Granted, I don't have good wank haunts anymore, but still. I wish to be amused and I can't find it with a cursory google!

I have clearly not had my caffeine yet because despite falling down the rabbit hole for JB the other day, I'm having trouble tracking my fall. I'm guessing it started with the recent Reddit AMA he did and peeked at his post history, found a mention of a fiance so I looked to see if I could find mention of his divorce and wound up here which then lead me to this tumblr and I'm sure I'm missing something. Oh, yeah. From ze tumblr, I hit the various FB links shared. There's no neat write up that I found easily (or at all) and I didn't really want to poke too much because I enjoy the man's work. Though to be fair, it doesn't sound like much, if anything, is really known about the breakup. There is a fair amount of stuff on the new 'ship though because pretty sure king of the nerds bagging his own Jessica Rabbit kinda gal is going to be a thing shouted from the rooftops.

And then, when I posted the link for you, I finally noticed that they did detail who Larry Correia is/why he's a problem and holy crapmuffins, despite hearing about the Sad Puppies/Hugo awards debacle I somehow never realized that was the guy. Whoops.
