Sep. 7th, 2018 10:51 amLook, Internet, I'm going to need you to anticipate my need for swatches of the new WnW Halloween lipsticks (Specifically Bewitched, Shady Lady, and Emerald Envy) so that I can look at them and say, yeah, no, I will look like ass even in costume. Without them, I take advantage of the $2 coupon and buy the blue one (Bewitched) and have pretty much every intention of scooping up the other two because why the hell not. I went ahead and bought Redlings from the Dragon collection because I. Am. Weak. Also, I liked the swatches of it under the toppers which I already bought because I buy a lot of lipstick for someone who doesn't wear a ton of it on a regular basis. But I've been good on that front lately so... eh. I figure one I'll only wear around the house or for Halloween and one that I might wear more often isn't that bad, particularly since I know I like the formula.
In other news, I'm trying to make more of an effort to paint my nails because it hit me the other day just how much freakin' nail polish I have. Which does not stop me from wanting more, btw. But I am trying to make use of what I have. Started my fall wearing with one that I literally thought to myself, "Huh. This is gorgeous, why don't I wear it more often? Wait, there's some issue with it but what is it. Is it because it's probably a texture polish?"
L'Oreal's Hidden Gems looks like a pretty green/purple duochrome in the bottle but it's a really lackluster blackened green with no purple shift and it's beyond textured to the point that it feels a bit like sandpaper... even with three gloopy attempts at a top coat. A gel topcoat at that. The color in the bottle is stunning. In reality it's a let down. I like it only when I think of it as dragon scales and then it goes from being disappointing to at least somewhat interesting.
Next I went for Revlon's Showtime which is a really pretty purple glitter that I picked for the baby shower since the base purple is Cass's favorite color. It's one that in direct light is stunning and would distract me if I wore it more in the sun. :P At work in the middle of the night, well, it's still pretty but nothing too remarkable.
Currently I'm sporting WnW's Gettin' Inked which is so far prettier in the bottle than on the nail, but it's one that I like anyway because I like my nails vampy. Even when one hand is painfully short and my skin is being weird.
While we're on the subject of makeup, I wore my Sephora Green On! mascara to the shower and to work a couple of times and despite the fact that it is most decidedly green, like I think it might even show up green on darker lashes, no one has ever said a thing. Meanwhile, any time I wore the Maybelline version which was less intense (but still awesome, RIP) I would invariably end up with someone asking, "A-are you wearing green mascara?" at some point. I want the other two non-pink shades now.
Reading Warbringer, a Wonder Woman book, and enjoying it even if I'm being really slow about it because I'm only working on it at work.
Did I mention I did battle with Comcast Tuesday when I should've been sleeping? If not, I did. My promo is about to end and I can't afford the regular price, so I had to jump through hoops to basically get what I'm paying for now plus an extra $5. I could knock that off entirely if I went to autopay, but I don't trust them with my info like that so ...no. We're supposed to get a new ~fancy~ box next week and the tech is also supposed to fix/replace mine that hasn't worked all summer but is on so tight that I can't remove the cable for troubleshooting. This means I have to clean that part of my room this weekend. Yay. (Sarcasm.)
Before my HBO trial ended, I watched The Lego Batman Movie which was cute enough and also Table 19 which I remember liking the trailer for and hearing terrible things about the movie itself. Honestly, it didn't deliver what the trailer promised, but it was a good little movie that didn't do exactly what you expected.
Kay, gotta hit the hay.

Date: 2018-09-09 07:34 pm (UTC)Now I wish that CTS had had the toppers!
I bought one of the Ulta brand lip colors when I had my hair cut, and I've really enjoyed it. Let me see if I can find it... Ulta Patent Shine liquid lipstick in "Ibiza". It's a bit brighter than anticipated out of the tube, but a thin layer is workable. I needed any everyday pink after my tube of WnW fuschia with blue pearl bit the dust, LOL.
That Revlon gel polish is so gorgeous that I'm almost tempted by it. Wow!!

Date: 2018-09-10 06:09 am (UTC)Will say that the blue is oddly... patchy? Like trying to apply a second coat will wipe away the first and you have to time it just right or it all goes to shit and gets oddly crumbly and glitter flaky. But it's stupidly pretty to the point that I might wear it out of the house in October. I did scare myself though when I fell asleep with it on and forgot all about it when I got up and caught sight of myself in the mirror mid-yawn. Horror movie jumpscare.
We're getting an Ulta right down the road (well, the shopping center with the new Teeter) so I'll have to keep an eye out for that. Huzzah!
And yes, if you happen to find the Revlon gel polish at some point, I'd recommend it. It doesn't require their top coat to be awesome.
