And we're off!
Of work for the better part of a week. I didn't bother asking for the weekend off, too, because I was pretty sure they'd say no, and also next Saturday is time change and it's the one I *like* working because I get to leave work an hour early. :D
Anyway, I did have to go back to work this morning instead of taking my walk because guess who forgot to return the keys? Yup. I reached in my pocket as I passed the first pond and literally said, "Oh, shit" to the goose who was honking like crazy. I'm not sure anyone saw me return the keys, not that it matters. I was just very stealthy.
On the way home, Mom and I stopped at Sonic and while we waited for my food, we watched a squirrel struggle to drag some sort of white fabric up a tree. At first I thought it was a sock but as the squirrel kept turning around to tug it up the tree, I decided it didn't look like a sock. I kinda think it was underwear, but Mom thought maybe a handkerchief. Of course, she also floated doll dress as a possibility so who knows. I was most sad to leave before I figured out the mystery or before getting to see where the squirrel was ultimately going.
Yesterday was the SC primary annnnnnnnd I'm going to guess that the fuckery going on with the polling in the upstate probably didn't help the Republicans who declared their intention to crash the primary and vote for Bernie since they felt he had the worst chance against the orange terror. Y'know, cuz Biden won and all. To which I say whyyyyyyyyyyyyy. There are other, more interesting options and this hellstate is like "YES. BIDEN." Bitch, no. I get that you're all hyped up on the thought of him being Obama The Second, but that won't win against Trump. Basically, my state continues to disappoint me.
Oh, and since I voted after work, Mums and I were within the first fifty (probably 30) to vote at ye olde high school. Alas, this meant that we had a front row seat to the fuckery that was watching the volunteers trying to set things up. Mom kept shooting me these "this does not inspire confidence" looks my way. I had to agree. I also didn't like my volunteer who took me over to the machine and then got bent out of shape because I hadn't used that particular kind before. Maybe stop changing the machines quite so much, man. No need to be rude about it, especially since the one part that was tricky was the one part he didn't bother to explain.
Let's see. Last week I helped transcribe a few diary entries for the Smithsonian, which was fun. I mean, it was a volunteer thing you did online, but it was fun and my pages were accepted so that's cool. Girlhood: It's Complicated in case you were curious.
In cooking news, I made the absolute best beef stew last Monday. Seriously, so good that everyone had seconds. ♥
Now, I continue the search for a camera. I know everyone's all, "use your phone!" but I do and it looks like shit more often than not.

Date: 2020-03-02 05:03 am (UTC)Mine is this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AY6Y2JU/
And I highly recommend it. I'm not sure if they have a newer version. The third party ones of those are hovering around retail, I think. I paid $113. Oh, yeah, there is. Please don't die on me, camera. New you is expensive. But pink. That's kinda cool.

Date: 2020-03-17 05:47 pm (UTC)I did a fair number of first passes on various entries in the https://transcription.si.edu/project/22633 diary.

https://transcription.si.edu/view/22633/AAA-AAA_lowrjani_3096872 (this one is very sad and I don't recommend it if you don't have a million cat or cute animal videos at the ready)

I did a few in the cute diary:
https://transcription.si.edu/project/22630
but it won't load for me so I can't pick out particular entries. I think it was mostly coded entries that I didn't de-code (just transcribed) and maybe some random ones here and there. It was mostly done by the time I found out about the project.
