If I go quiet for a bit, it's because my computer told me this morning that he is dying. Hard disk failure is imminent. My baby!

Also, my wallet is weeping. Why the fuck do desktops still cost a friggin' fortune? I know a good chunk of it is because of the timing. A lot of options were/are sold out so I had to pick through the remains but geez. It hurt to spend that much.

I suppose my one consolation is that I spent January backing up stuff like a crazy person. Guess we'll find out how well that worked, huh?

I'm surprised desktops are so expensive - it seems the bigger something is nowadays, the less expensive it is. You're not going in for a gaming unit or anything are you? *crosses fingers* that whatever you have ends up lasting a good long while!!

Nope, I looked briefly at the gaming ones out of curiosity once I realized that my options were limited but mostly avoided them.

I could have gone the refurbished route but I didn't feel like chancing it. New one should be here this weekend.

I'm glad my computer held on long enough to do the recap, even if the book tried to drive me bonkers. Why do you hate me so, Robin. Whyyyyyyyyyy...

The price jumps between new and refurbished were tempting but a lot of the reviews beyond "got it today, it's great!" were scary. Since I don't know when this one will die on me, I didn't want to chance it.
