I've been waiting to post this because I'm lazy and was hoping the LE doll that's associated with this would officially leak but she's still in hiding so... might as well share with the class, I suppose?

AG is continuing their Nutcracker theme from last year and releasing three new outfits. Again, like last year, we have one stand alone outfit and a pair. I... have some thoughts.

  When I heard they were doing a mouse king, I was worried we'd land squarely in nightmare valley, but I actually think this is pretty damn cute. I want to like the Peppermint Dancer more than I actually do, and I'm irked now that someone's pointed out that they jacked up the price on this set and the dancer should have tights but does not. Had this set been split up, I'd probably have caved on the Mouse King because it appeals to my sense of WTF. The dancer outfit brings this set down for me, and I liked it at first, but it's not $100.

  Dear AG, I'm not sure if some plastic is actually cheaper than others, but my God, the plastic tiara and scepter in this set look like they were ripped from a dollar store set and will have that scent of death that lingers on everything you touch for weeks. Seriously, they look bad. This whole outfit is a swing and a miss for me, but sometimes the accessories really, really break you and this is one of those cases. Like the leo itself is kind of interesting, even if I think the execution on the sleeves isn't for me. I like velour (though we all know it's gonna shed like crazy, right?) and purple and shiny and I've got more of the ballet outfits than I could ever justify and this is just... not good.

Even worse, this is the outfit the LE doll will be wearing, allegedly. If memory serves and sources are to be believed, it sounds like a variation of #86 (my Roxy) will be wearing a blinged out version of this outfit, though maaaaaaaybe she'll have glittery eyes, too. Which sounds weird, honestly, and why I was trying to wait for pics of her to appear. Anyway, apparently the doll will be $250 and limited to um.... 5000? Maybe less. I'm not in the market but I want to seeeeeeeeeeeee.

The Mouse King costume is clearly the winner in this collection. I like the Sugar Plum Fairy outfit, too, or at least the aesthetic of it. Very nice color combo. At least she has tights! I agree that the crown and scepter are srsly cheap looking, tho. I am intrigued by the idea of glittery eyes??

The peppermint outfit is just bleh. Its like, did they really even try?? 🙄

I dig the lavender tights on Sugar Plum. I also like the matching shoes. The tutu, I think, is where I stumble on the outfit itself. Or maybe I just really hate the cheap-y plastic accessories. :P When pics of the doll surface, I shall share! I want to see glittery eyes. I figure it'll either be surprisingly awesome or land straight in "oh god, can't unsee" territory.

No. No they did not try on that poor peppermint outfit. Especially not when shown with the stuff from last year.
