Life update I suppose
Feb. 8th, 2021 03:22 pmThe project update out of the way:
We ended on 399 polishes. I know and you know there are more but that's where the first leg of Project Swatch-A-Thon ended. I somehow managed to miss certain polishes I'm 99% sure I own (I did buy SH's Slicks and Stones, right?) and I've definitely gotten new polishes in since then. Hell, I just brought in two packages today. Oi. Don't let me near a sale, okay.
Future!me, here's some tips for the next round:
- Keep up with the spreadsheet as you go. It's just gonna be WAY easier.
- Toppers definitely get painted on top of the swatch stick nail. Some will be fine underneath but you won't know which ones until it's too late.
- Humidity will fuck you over with any color. Bummer since rainy days are otherwise perfect for the swatching portion.
- Don't swatch similar colors or names in the same batch. The odds of you messing up go waaaaaaaaay up if you do.
Now. On to other things. I go back to work this Friday. I should have taken them up on the offer to not start til Tuesday but I was worried that they wouldn't count my usual days off as normal days off and would instead be treated like days I wasn't working and then we'd be fucked all over again, so I let the store manager decide. He chose to immediately throw me back to work the first day it was possible to do so. Yay? I'm trying not to freak out for a whole long list of reasons but instead focus on the fact that going back for two days before getting another two days off is probably a good idea. *breathes*
This means Mom is doing better, knock on wood. Much as it fucking sucked having her in the hospital that extra week and a half, it seems to have helped in other ways. Or maybe she just remembered a lot of her work from when she broke her ankle and has been applying it to this. I don't know.
None of her home health people had to stay on for extra time and her week of doctor's visits went well. She's been able to get around the house on her own for a bit and make herself lunch and work on dinner though she does still need help with the heavier bits. She seems to have finally agreed with everyone who pointed out the swelling in her legs has gone down pretty much completely. It just took awhile to get through the super un-fun parts, I suppose. Which I might blather on about in a bit but I'm currently debating taking a walk around the neighborhood.
I have learned that my attention span is still terrible at this point. Boo.

Date: 2021-02-10 10:57 pm (UTC)How fast is time flying these days?! It seems like it was yesterday when you were talking about the woes inherent in getting your leave set up in the first place, and here you are, ready to go back. I do hope that this extra two days will help ease you back in, but if you're the only person on shift at night I guess that's being thrown into the fire no matter how you slice it.
Finally - YAY for your mom's recovery! That's really great that it's gone so well and hasn't required anything extra. Hopefully she will continue to heal and be able to get back to normal (for whatever we're considering normal these days).

Date: 2021-02-11 09:12 pm (UTC)If 2020 was some weird wormhole for time, 2021 is trying to break a land-speed record or something. I'm glad to know it's not just me. Not sure if work still has it just me, as I was told at some point they had two people overnight while I was gone (well, for January, anyway) and I hope they still do if only for the first week or two. I hadn't even fully considered the go back ALONE option. o_O
Took her out to the parking lot this afternoon (no yard to speak of in the front and the backyard is a lake) and I was just expecting her to go to the end of the walkway but she was all, 'grab the walker just in case, wouldja" and zoomed around our end of things. Until she saw Ozma sitting in the doorway (I'd closed the storm door but left the regular door open because it was a bear to open) and just melted into a puddle because the cat was so cute spying on her people before running away. :D
